"Should I have... Told her?" Steven asked hesitantly.
"That you're Pink Diamond? No!" Lapis snapped at Steven.
"But.. That gem... Doesn't she realize that Pink faked her shattering? Even the other diamonds know about it! Shouldn't have they made an announcement?" Lapis shook her head. "Why would they? For over 5,000 years, Pink Diamond was believed to have been shattered by a Rose Quartz. If homeworld gems find out that Pink faked her shattering- or, more specifically, if they find out why, Pink will be seen as a horrible traitor, unfit to be a Diamond..." "That's... That's not true! Mom was completely willing to colonize Earth at first! But once she'd realized that there was organic life already inhabiting the planet, she didn't want to destroy it, or its home!" Lapis sighed and shook her head at Steven sympathetically. "But the gems here on homeworld won't see it that way." She frowned. "They'll see it as her putting the values of another species above her own... So no one needs to know about this." Steven took a deep breath and his gem began to glow. Lapis gasped as he began to shape shift. Once he'd finish, he was dressed in Pink's outfit with long hair. "Steven! Please, you can't do this!" "Lapis. My mom was a Diamond... Which means, I'm a Diamond. And now, I have to pick up where she left off." Steven began walking. "But, Steven-!" Lapis began. "No! .... I'm sorry, Lapis. This is who I am."
