"Get up! You're going to be late for school! And no skipping today young man!"

My mom never shuts up. She doesn't stop until I'm out of bed.

"Don't make me bring your father in to this! He's stressed enough as it is! You need to start showing respect for this family and be responsible for your behavior. How else do you expect to live life?! How do you expect to get married and raise children of your own if you yourself can't grow up?!" She said, taking the covers off of me.

"Alright! I'm getting up! Just stop complaining would ya?!" I shouted, getting up and going to my closet.

"I expect you downstairs and ready to go in five minutes. We can't keep doing this every morning Day."

"It's Dayton mom. If you're going to name me Dayton, then call me by that name." I said, hating it when she called me that. It always made me feel like a kid. It bothers me so much.

"Just hurry please."

She left my room and I began to change. I stuffed my bag with all of the things I needed for school and walked downstairs. I grabbed some bread from the kitchen pantry and placed it in the toaster.

"You're staying after school today. No questions. No complaining." My father said, waking in the room with his steaming coffee. I've told him multiple times but to drink inside because of the smell - it makes me sneeze and act up - but he didn't. But he does stay in one room, so the smell stays in that one area and doesn't affect the rest of the house as much.

"Why? What did I do this time?" I said, watching my tongue more than I did with my mother.

"I said no questions. Your staying after school today. You'll receive more details when the time comes. Now, stop disrespecting your mother. She loves you dearly."

"Yeah yeah. You both tell me." I sighed, taking my toast and heading outside.

"When can I have my car back?" I asked my mom as I got in.

"When you find a girlfriend." She teased.

"Yeah right. Like I'll ever get one. No one likes me, and no one notices me."

"Aww. It's my baby boy feeling lonely? Do I need to go find someone for him?" She said in a baby voice.

"Oh please no. I don't need my mom to go find me a girlfriend!" I laughed, calming down from my morning anger. I was so annoyed though.

"Why am I staying after school today?" I asked before the school came into view.

"You're meeting someone today. And please be nice to them. They're taking time out of their own life to do this." She said, pulling into the drop off lane. I hopped out of the car and watched as she waved goodbye and didn't leave until I was in the gates.

The bell rang just as I sat down in my first class, which just happens to be my "favorite" class, English. I absolutely despise this class. Especially the teacher.

"Looks like Mr. Kenzington finally decided to show up for once. So, were going to begin the class with sharing our poems." Ms. Burly said, giving me a glare. I returned the glare and ignored the rest of the class until the bell rung.

I began to walk to my next annoying class until Mrs. Willow, the head counselor, pulled me aside.

"Dayton Kenzington, correct?" She asked.

"Yes, why?" I said, taking my arm back from her grasp.

"Once school it's done, come to my office. You'll be meeting someone today, and I'm going to be introducing you to them after school." She said, taking her leave without even letting me reply with even a nod.

I shook my head and began heading back to my second class. Hopefully she didn't just make me late.
