POV River
As I scrub the crumbs and grime from the bar counter, In the corner of my eye I see a silhouette of a petite lady around my age walking over toward the counter.
I avoid eye contact and focus on cleaning the counter.
"Hey princess, can you get this girl a scotch on rocks"
Nodding I bend down grabbing a clean glass and pour her beverage. Pushing the drink towards her The smell I recognize as nicotine fills my nose.
"Theres no smoking in here, can you read the signs"
"Are you going to stop me, princess?" she asked bitterly blowing the stream of smoke in my face.
"I can have you out of here in no time, kitten" I shot back looking in her piercing blue eyes.
"Don't call me that" she grimaced.
"What you going to do about it, Kitten?" I smirked licking my dry lips.
She glared at me taking a long drag of her cigarette blowing the another cloud of smoke at me.
I fanned the smoke away coughing up a storm.
The smell was comforting in a way...but I Altered my life, I am not going back into that life again even though the stench was familiar, I refuse to.
My gaze wandered back to her piercing blue eyes.
"Cora?" I muttered unsure if it was the past coming back to hit me in the face.
