Shadows Among The Chosen

Chapter 1

"Come on, Raine!"

The fires blazed through the village like an infestation. We ran as fast as we could away from the home we once knew. My vision was blurred so I couldn't see who was with me. I looked to be four or five at this time. I had tears in my eyes as I ran as fast as I could; when suddenly, I tripped and fell down a hill. The boy who was running with me never noticed I fell and kept running further until I couldn't see him in sight. I cried more from being alone but I knew now was not the time to sulk and be gloomy. I had to run. I heard men in the distance yelling and they sounded like they were drawing closer to me. I got up and ran east. The boy ran south and I knew I wouldn't make it in time. So, I went my own way..

*End of Dream*

"Ah!"

I jolted up in my bed with a tear running down my face. I have been having that dream ever since I came here and met my older brother Miro. I rubbed my eyes and got up from my bed. I soon heard a knock on my bedroom door. It opens and I see Miro in the doorway.

"Are you okay, Raine?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm okay."

"Was it that dream again?"

He walked over with concern due to me not looking at him and looking at the floor. He hugged me as though to comfort me. I hugged him back then pulled away.

"Sadly.. It happened again.."

He became more concerned.

"Ya know, this dream of yours seems to be coming at you more frequently recently, why is that? do you know?"

"I don't know.. I guess I just have a lot on my mind."

"Well I hope it gets better for you. Now get dressed because we have school at eight, alright Rainey? Heheheh."

I glared at him intensely and crossed my arms.

"You know I hate that nickname... And by the way, next time can you wait for me to answer the door?"

"Sure, I'll leave you be. You Better be ready... Rainey, haha!"

"Omg! Okay, just get out!"

He laughed and walked out, closing the door behind him. I walked into my closet and grabbed my clothes I was gonna wear, including my elbow high, fingerless gloves. I walked out and went to my chair to grab my bag when I heard multiple, fast knocks. I went to the door.

"*groans* Miro I thought you said you would lea--"

I opened the door and seen no one was there. I was confused because I could have sworn I heard a knock. I soon quickly felt someone cover my eyes and hold my waist. I was frozen.

"Guess who~"

I knew that voice anywhere.

"What the fuck, Juko!?"

"Hahahaah!"

He laughed at my reaction. I shook my head and then I realized that he came from somewhere else.

"H-how did you get in here?"

"The window. easy access."

I was still confused because my room was on the third floor and there was no way he could get in. I guess I'll just drop it. He looked down at my wrists and seen my cuts. He knew I did it to cope with the bullying but he was still worried. When I noticed he seen, I tried to hide them by bringing my arms close to my chest. He grabbed my gloves and put them on for me, smiling sweetly.

"Let's go and head to school. Don't want to be late."

Me and Juko walked downstairs and he glanced over at Miro, who was sitting at the table eating the breakfast our mom made. They both made eye contacted and glared intensely at each other for a moment. "Good morning, mom, gonna head to school so I'm not late, skipping breakfast." Okay, sweetheart, have a great day today, alright?" She smaile sweetly. "Yeah, sure.." I whispered under my breath. Juko gripped my wrist a little tighter after I finished talking and walked out with me behind him.

"Hey..Um..."

I was hesitant to ask what happened but he heard me from under my breath.

"Yeah? What is it?"

He didn't look back at me but I could tell he was a little irritated.

"What was that back there? Do you guys ha--"

"Drop it."

He stopped walking.

"Huh?"

"You don't need to know what happened, got it?"

He turned to me and looked more irritated than before.

I wanted to speak, but, I stayed silent.

He realized what he was doing and seen the little twinge of fear in my eyes. His expression became a little sad. "Look... I'm sorry for snapping like that, Raine.. It's just a long story and I don't want to get into detail, okay?"

"Okay."

*Seven Minutes Later*

Juko and I soon arrived at the school and we noticed a fancy car in the parking lot. We shrugged it off but when we entered the building.. It was a whole different scene. There was a huge crowd of people around a guy who looks to be new. He had silver hair with one brown streak in the bangs, his skin was two different colors aswell. Although, his eyes really were captivating.. His left eye was emerald green with a streak of blue and his right was a deep lavender purple.

"Hello, earth to Raine!"

"Huh?"

"Come on, stop spacing out and continue walking!"

"Oh, right."

After that, I walked down the hall to my class. But I realized me and him made eye contact as I looked back.

??? P.O.V.

I looked right at her and we made eye contact for a split second. She turned back around quickly and I noticed she went tense for a bit.

"I think I just found the one I was looking for..Heheheh.."

I grinned widely with a look of evil and lust.
