Prologue

Rain gently dropped from the dark sky, turning everything into shades of black and grey. The train whistle echoed from the hills surrounding the station, the rich green trees and shrubbery hiding the valley from prying eyes. In this miserable weather, there should not have been anyone at the train station, it was rare that the train ever left with a passenger, or ever came back with anything but supplies for the townspeople who lived there.

A sole person stood alone in the rain, seemingly not bothered by the cold droplets from the clouds. A long, dark jacket with a hood did not reveal the fragile form inside, or the eyes that stared vacantly at the beautiful surroundings. The person did not make a sound, or move to take shelter under the pavilion, but raised a pale hand with elegant fingers, to caress a necklace lying on the collarbone.

"Irias," the girl whispered.

As the sound of the train became more distinct, the slender girl lifted her eyes to the sky, rain drops melting easily with the tears delicately running down her face. Not once did her hand leave the pendant, which was grasped tightly in her fingers. The train whistle became overwhelmingly loud as it stopped, and a man poked his head out of a window. His mouth opened and closed, his expression one of concern, yet the girl couldn't hear a word. All she could feel was the rain pelting her cruelly, and a numb feeling stabbing her chest. The man opened the train door, a warm light shining dimly in the interior. Without controlling her body, she took a step forward, then another, wanting to leave, yet knowing that even if she did, she was leaving pieces of herself behind in this place. A ringing noise filled all her senses, as she felt her world begin to collapse around her, something penetrated her mind.

Suddenly everything cleared- the ringing, the cold, everything. Hearing two sets of footfalls behind her, she froze as two voices shouted at once, perfectly in sync.
