“And then our old German teacher turns around to us and goes, vas happening?” Zayn laughed, as the two teenagers headed out of the school. Hayley burst out laughing as she listened to the story of how Zayn and his old school friends played loads of tricks on their old German teacher.

“I never knew you were such a rebel, Zayn!” she chuckled as she looked up at him. He had flat hair today, and it made him look so sexy it was unbelievable. Zayn let out another laugh.

“I’m not that much of a rebel!” He replied with a cheeky smirk, before they both started to walk out of the school. All of the lower years were still running around grabbing various bags and then walking home.

“Yeah you are.” She laughed as they walked along with the crowds of kids in school uniforms.

“Hayley! Oi! Hayley!” Someone shouted from behind. She jumped a little, and grabbed onto Zayn’s arm out of instinct. They both turned around to see Liam heading towards them, face like thunder. Hayley sighed with relief, before realising how annoyed he looked.

“Liam? Are you okay?” She asked as she looked up at him. The three of them stood to one side out of the way of the crowds.

“I can’t believe you, Hayley!” Liam outburst. He looked down at her disappointedly. Hayley looked up at him in confusion.

“What…what do you mean?” She asked, not knowing why Liam was so angry at her for. They never really fought, and he especially never shouted at her like this.

“You lied to me! When were you planning on telling me that Harry pushed you over on the stairs?” Liam demanded, now looking hurt. Hayley bit on her lip.

“It wasn’t anything bad, he just pushed me off the bottom step…” She replied, knowing that all of the people going past them were listening and watching.

“Anything bad? Hayley! He physically touched you and hit you! Of course it’s bad!” He quickly replied angrily. He looked down at Hayley for a moment before he looked hurt.

“I just can’t believe you didn’t tell me.” he barely whispered. Liam shook his head before he started to walk down the street.

“Liam! Wait!” Hayley quickly yelled, before she went running after him.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, I really am!” She urged him. She took hold of his arm and turned him to face her.

“I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to get angry! If you got angry you’d punch him or something-”

“Yeah, I did that.” Liam quickly interrupted her. Hayley shook her head and put her hands through her hair.

“That’s what I didn’t want! I was scared of him enough already! What if he got angry and came back to hurt me again?” Hayley whimpered, telling Liam her true feelings.

“I was really scared okay! I didn’t want him to get into a habit of hitting me!” She explained, looking up at her best friend, hoping to make him understand how worried she was really feeling.

“But it’s my job to protect you, Hayley. You should’ve trusted me and told me!” Liam replied, still looking disappointed.

“I know, I should have told you. But how am I supposed to know that he’s not going to do anything like that again?” Hayley looked up at him desperately.

“Don’t you get that?” She whispered, taking both of his arms and looking up at him through teary eyes. If Harry knew that she’d been telling everyone about what happened on Wednesday night, how did she know that he wouldn’t do something like that again, but worse. Liam nodded and looked down at her.

“I get that Hayley. I’m sorry, I am. C’mere!” He quickly apologised, before pulling his best friend into his arms.

“It’s okay, I’m sorry, I should have told you…” Hayley muffled into his chest. Liam quickly shushed her.

“How do I know he isn’t going to hurt me again? I’m scared.” She whispered into his chest. Liam squeezed his arms around her even more.

“I don’t think he will again, trust me.” Liam whispered after a while. Hayley could only nod before they both realised that Zayn was stood awkwardly next to them.

“Ohh, Zayn mate, fancy coming around mine? It’d be cool to play fifa with someone who is good at it.” Liam broke the ice. Hayley looked happily from her best friend to the guy she liked, glad they were getting along.

“Shut up, Liam.” Hayley laughed, before the three started to walk towards their streets.
