Since the official judging period is soon to begin, I figured I would give you all some pointers...

Most awards books give you a rubric and all, but I feel that it is up to you. You can score them any way you want.

Here are some things to think about...

1. Cover

I would advise to focus less on this and more on the actual book, but think about how visually appealing it is and if you actually wanted to read it at first glance.

2. Description

This is one thing that people usually don't think of right off the bat, but give the description a read through to see if it pulls you in to want more.

3. Character Development

Are the characters interesting or boring? Are they easy to connect with or do they fall flat?

4. Plot

Is there an interesting plot? Did you want to keep reading?

5. First impression

Did the first chapter make you want to continue, or were you bored?
