2 Devil on My Shoulder

Friday had always been my favorite day. It meant the end of school, a time of relaxation, of hanging with friends. And there was nothing to change that now. Work was easy and Mama and I were currently pretty civil, plus my pie was a hit. Yep, Friday's were good.
I was scrubbing tables when I felt my phone buzz. I quickly snuck a peak and saw that Ethan had texted me. Hey, r u goin to the party tmrw? I swore, I'd forgotten about that. I quickly went back to scrubbing tables and thought about my decision. I wanted to go, and it wasn't like I really cared what Mama thought, right? Plus, you've never been to a real high school party, have you Lulu? You want to be a real high schooler, don't you? A little voice in my head asked. Yeah, of course. And, the little voice in my head added, you don't wanna loose your title as popular, do you? Woah, where did that come from? I mean, I obviously didn't, but I'd never really thought of it before. Come on Lulu, bite the bullet and seize the day! Don't let ol' helicopter stop you. Get out there and be a teen! Well, guess the devil on my shoulder is leading me today.
I went into the bathroom and responded to Ethan. Ok, I've thought about it. I'm going. Nikki's gonna pick me up, I'll see you then. I then texted Nikki to make sure she could still do her part. As I left the bathroom, I found myself face to face with Mama. "Hey." "Hey." "You okay?" "Yeah, fine. Why?" "You just seem distant lately." Since when am I not? "Oh." "You know, if you ever need to talk, I'm here." "I know... Well, I'll get back to my shift." "Oh, I was actually gonna tell you that you can go home if you want." "Really?" I asked. "Yeah, but if you'd rather stay..." "Oh, no, I'll head back."
As I headed home I couldn't help but feel guilty about the amount of hopelessness in Mama's voice when she thought I wanted to stay.
Shaking her out of my head, I decided to plan my outfit for tomorrow. It had to be something sexy yet conspicuous enough that it was still acceptable for a typical girl's night. I went through my closet and eventually picked out a tight, low cut tank with a pair of faded skinny  jeans and my leather ankle boots. I put my leather jacket in my bag for tomorrow and decided to throw on a sweater for here, figuring I could change once I got there. I texted Nikki for outfit confirmation, and once I got it, I smiled feeling immensely happy about the following day.

Hi! Hope everyone has a good week!
