The pointer spun and spun then stopped. It pointed to me.
"Truth or dare?" asked Josh.
I thought, being the only girl in the room playing this, a dare might be extreme amongst a group of boys so I guess truth it was.
"Okay Kathryn, um," said Josh, I could see him thinking, "do girls think about sex a lot?"
I took a moment to think. There really isn't any reason to lie. I did choose truth after all.
"Well, yes. Probably more than boys do." I answered.
The boys looked puzzled but understood. They weren't totally clueless after all. The question wasn't unexpected. When you're the only girl in a room with seven teenage boys playing truth or dare, what else do you expect, although, with my truth questions to the boys they didn't seem to answer them as truthfully. I could see it in their eyes. I guess it's the fact that they're in the presence of their friends and you know how boys, are all macho around each other.
Liam spoke up, "but then why don't they show it? Why are they always so frigid?"
Seriously, is that all boys think about, sex? Frigid is probably the wrong word to use. I have a lot of explaining to do here.
"Listen here. Listen carefully because I will only tell you this once. Not all girls are frigid and even then it's not necessarily that girls are frigid. You see, girls are bitches. Everyone is so judgmental. If a girl has sex a lot she'll be deemed a slut and she wouldn't want to be called that because despite what they say, nobody likes to be a social reject. See it's diff-"
"She's not a slut. She's just easy" interrupted Max.
"See this is what I'm trying to explain. Girls don't want to be seen as "easy." It's hard enough being judged by girls but by guys as well. Three quarters of girls don't just want a sexual relationship. They want more. They want to find love. I think that's why in some ways girls are emotionally different from boys. Fairytales have filled our minds that there will be a one true love out there for everyone one of us."
"What a load of crap," retorted Max.
I don't know what the rest were thinking but I was sick of having eyes on me so I put my finger on the pointer and away it spun. Conveniently it stopped at Max. I had something planned for him.
"Truth..or dare?" I asked.
He seemed to be doing a lot of thinking over it. After about a minute he replied.
"Dare."
It was time to separate Max from his wolf pack and turn the tables.
"Come with me into the next room for ten minutes."
As expected that was met with wolf whistles and cheering. Max looked sheepish but reluctantly followed me.
"So, um, what do you want to do?" Max asked nervously.
Geez, what was he thinking?
"I just want to talk to you."
I saw all the colour return to his face. It was as if he caught Santa. What was up with that?
We reached the room next door. It turned out to be the bathroom.
"Just bloody perfect," I mumbled with sarcasm oozing all over my words.
The bathroom was surprisingly clean compared to Josh's upside down house. The multi-coloured toothbrushes were perfectly aligned. All the makeup and fragrance bottles were in a clear container. The mirror barely had a speck of dust on it!
"Max," my voice wavered a bit, "sit."
He chose to sit on the toilet lid so I sat on the edge of the bathtub. They were about two metres apart. It felt as if he wanted to be as far as way from me as possible which was quite strange because we've known each other for almost six years and never once has he reacted like this. I wondered if my breath stank or if I had a booger hanging out.
Max did that famous Justin Bieber hair flick to his auburn hair revealing those gorgeous brown eyes of his which were obviously teamed with a stunning smile. Most girls would obviously think he's some handsome devil but to me he has always been the same obnoxious Max.
"What do you want to talk about?" he asked rather cautiously.
