***Layla's POV***

"Layla Meadows!"

I snap out of my trance looking around in a daze, realizing I was at school. Wait... school? When did I get to school? Damn these blackouts. "Layla Meadows!" I look at the teacher standing in front of my desk.... Mr. Samson. Ugh. His features were drawn into a scowl enlarging his already gigantic beak of a nose. I burst out laughing. "Would you like to explain to me as why your laughing?" I stop at the anger in his voice. "Your face." I replied wearing a shit eating grin and cockiness oozing out of my voice.

"Principal's office miss Meadows." I lean back in my chair and put my feet up on the desk. I notice I was wearing my combat boots. "I don't think so." My voice holds rebelliousness and my posture screamed disrespect. "Now." he was really angry but, whatever, I didn't care. "If you insist" I draw the it out sarcasm coating my words. I sling my bag onto my shoulder and walk out. Stopping at the door to turn and wink at the teacher. His face was red from fury, I sigh. I seem to get that reaction a lot.

I walk through the halls thinking trying to fill in the gap in my memory. I remembered getting ready to go to bed last night, but everything after that was just gone. At least it was only a few hours this time, I think back to the last time I blacked out. 4 days had gone by, by the time I woke up. In that time I had managed to gain the reputation as the schools emo badass. Now everyone either stays out of my way, or tries to be my friend.

I look up as I reach the door to the Principal's office, knocking before poking my head in. "Ms. Allister? It's me....again." She sighs and shakes her head when she sees me. "What did you do this time?" I sit down in the chair across from her. "I laughed at Mr. Samson's beak." She sighed again, "Layla...." she was disappointed. "I'm trying! I really am," I said, "but it was just so funny!"

"Layla what am I going to do with you?" A knock came from the door and vice principal comes in, "Sorry to interrupt Principal Alister, but the new student and her father are here." Ms. Allister looks at me with a devilish smile on her lips. "What are going to do?" I ask nervously. "You'll see, send them in" she directed the last at the Vice principal and he nods.

A minute later two people enter the room. The first was a tall man in his forties, wearing a business suit. His eyes shone with happiness though you could see the tiredness in them. He went over to the principal and started discussing his daughters enrollment. Behind him was a girl that looked around seventeen, like me. Her long blond hair fell to her hips, it was put up in a ponytail at the moment, showing off her heart shaped face, with her pale skin and coral lips. Her eyes were a dark purple-grey color that drew me in. She was wearing light blue skinny jeans that accented her legs, and a pink long sleeved shirt that said 'I invented preppy.' I smiled when I saw she was wearing combat boots, it was the only thing I approved about her outfit.

We were studying each other when Ms. Allister clapped to get our attention. The girls father was talking to her, ".....Amani aren't you excited? New school, new friends? You're going to have so much fun here." The girl, Amani, I think he said, was getting upset. "Dad I already have friends, at home, in Ohio. I don't want to go to stay here." Her father just sighed shaking his head at her before turning back to the principal. I just stare at her in shock, before looking at my arm. I read the words on my arm for the millionth time....

"Dad I already have friends, at home, in Ohio. I don't want to go to stay here."

My soulmate.... It was her.
