The next day as I work on the props for the talent show I try not to follow Jagger around with my eyes. We haven't spoken since I ran out. He tried calling but I let it go to voicemail. Eventually turning my phone off. That Mrs. Prescott is flitting around him like a damn honey bee looking for nectar. I have no right to feel jealous. I pretty much told him that we weren't anything to each other.

At a table a group of men are playing poker. One of them waves Jagger over to talk to him. I'm not eavesdropping. The man talks so damn loud the whole ballroom can hear him.

"I'm going to be busy playing poker all weekend. Give my Vi some extra dance lessons," Mr. Prescott tells Jagger handing him a wad of cash. Looking my way Jagger pushes the money back into Mr. Prescott's hand.

"I'm sorry Mr. Prescott but I'm booked up this weekend. It wouldn't be right to take your money when I don't have time to give Mrs. Prescott lessons," Jagger says while Mrs. Prescott narrows her eyes at him. When she glances my way I avert my eyes.

"You ready to take a break?" Laila asks.

"Sure." We decide to grab a bite to eat at the snack shack on the property. After ordering our food we take a seat to wait for our number to be called.

"Why does it look like there is trouble in paradise?"

"I sorta told Jagger that we have no future."

"Baby! If the man likes you and wants to continue seeing you why would you say no? It's obvious that he adores you. I saw the way he was looking at you earlier," Laila says.

"I'm leaving for college. He's staying here. Do you really think a long distance relationship will work?" I ask miserably.

"That all depends on the two of you. Long distance relationships are hard but not impossible. You have to decide if it's worth it."

I think it would be but the truth is I'm scared. I shouldn't even be thinking about what could be with Jagger when I didn't even know if my parents are going to accept me. I guess Laila can see what I am thinking by my expression. She is up out of her chair and giving me a bone crushing hug.

"No matter what I will always be your family Felix. No matter what I will always love you."

Giving her a squeeze in return I blink back tears. "I know and I love you even more because of it."

"Number 21! Your order is up."

Laila releases me so she can pick up our food. I'm surprised when she hands me a bag. "Go find Jagger and talk to him."

I nod taking the bag and I run out the door. I find Jagger coming out of Pippa's room. As he comes down the stairs I hold the bag out to him. "Peace offering?"

When he starts to turn away from me it's my turn to grab him by the wrist. "I'm sorry. Please don't go."

"I'm not leaving you Felix. I'm leading you to my cabin," Jagger says.

"Oh..."

"Come on, Baby." I follow behind him never letting go of his wrist.

"It looks like I picked the wrong sibling," Aaron taunts when he sees us walk by his cabin. "It's okay, Baby, I've went slumming too before."

"What did you say?" Jagger growls.

"I bet Palmilla would love to know that you're fucking his physician's son. I'm sure your daddy would be thrilled too Baby."

"You want to tell Palmilla I've been messing with the guests go ahead but leave Baby out of it," Jagger shouts.

"Baby must pay you well if you are willing to lose your job. I'll give you what you need for free, Baby," Aaron says with a wink making my skin crawl. Jagger has Aaron flying off the porch and into the dirt before I even realize he has moved.
