Demi POV:

I walk outside, muttering under my breath, trying to prepare for the conversation I am about to have.  "Hey, what's up, Max?" I chirp, pretending he isn't about to be mad.

I can hear him let out a sigh on the other end.  "Where are you?" He sounds annoyed, but mostly relieved.  He was probably worried, and it wasn't fair of me to tell him I was "going to explore by myself" and then not come back for 4 hours.

"I'm getting milkshakes with a new friend.  I'm having a really great time, so don't worry about me." I reply.

Max tentatively asks, "And you don't need me to take you to  a meeting or anything? You're actually ok?"

I chuckle, "Yeah, no meeting.  I'll go to one tomorrow, but I'm doing surprisingly well right now.  I think I'm good for tonight, too.  Don't worry about bringing me back to the hotel."

Max sounds a little nervous as he checks that I'm staying somewhere safe and that I picked a non-murdery friend.

"I'm good, I swear, Max.  I'll send you the address in the morning! Get some rest, you deserve it.  You work so hard, and you're such a good, supportive, person."

I hang up, only to turn around to Alex with her mouth agape.  "Don't worry about bringing me back to the hotel," she says mocking my words and smirking.  "Did you find a place to sleep?" she asks, knowing the answer.

I giggle, blushing, and she puts her arm around my waist and pulls me into her side as we walk to the car.  "I'm just kidding, I know the perfect place."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This is not where I thought tonight was going!" I say, less than enthused about the current situation.

Alex is beating the stakes of our tent... Yeah, our tent... into the ground.  I have a fire already set up and I have cocooned myself into Alex's fuzzy blanket.   It smells like her, and I bury my face into it, enjoying this moment.

I'm not a huge fan of camping, and my clothes are a bit expensive to get ruined out here.  But, she seemed so excited that I had to give in and sleep on the ground tonight.  She leant me some of her clothes, knowing that I was hesitant about wearing my Gucci camping.

She finishes setting up the tent before sitting down next to me on the log and laying her head on my shoulder.

I reach around with the blanket on my arm and wrap her up with me, neither of us saying a word.  I can feel her breathing me in as she pushes her face into the crook of my neck.  I lay my head over onto her, and before I know it, I have dozed off.  I wake to Alex squeezing me in a hug while kissing the temple of my forehead.

"Hey," she whispers, "let's move to the tent so you can rest."

I groan, but stand up because I know she's right.

As I go to take a step, she grabs my arms and pulls them around her neck.  Then she supports my back and lifts up my knees, and she carries me to the tent bridal-style.  She's so sweet and caring.

She lays me down, and I let out a big, genuine, smile for the first time in a long time.

She lays down with me, wrapping me into her arms, and I breath her in as I fall asleep gently in her arms.  I can feel her stroking my hair, and everything feels good in the world.

A/N: Sorry it's so short- I'll make the next one longer!  I just wanted to get something up!
