the best way to get over something is to let it hurt
let it hurt so much you can feel it in every single breath you take
feel it constrict your lungs with every inhale
feel it squeeze your heart with every beat
feel your stomach churn with every thought

but you gotta remember, even though it hurts, you have to keep breathing
and, in your own time, the pain will fade
it may take days
it may take weeks
it may take months

and eventually,
only half of your lungs is filled with air to heavy to circulate
only once in a while will your heart feel like breaking
only sometimes will your stomach sink

until that too slowly gets filtered out
and sometimes the hurt comes back and the air seems too much and too heavy and your throat isn't wide enough for what you need and your heart can't handle the return of those old feelings as if they'd never left and you feel so sick and it seems like maybe, just maybe you can't, can't, can't

but now you know
you can
cause you've done it before
and it will get better again
things will always get better
if you just breathe
