Last night I had some crazy dream. It was vivid, but the meaning would be a mystery.

All I could remember was falling in a bottomless pit.
There was something or someone calling me and clinging on to my back not in a way they were aggressive, but in a tinder warmth like hug.
My eyes were heavy like they were last night, something about it was like it
wasn't me like I was stuck. I couldn't move or scream.
The scary part is I woke up before I hit the bottom.

Whatever it was has me shook. So shaken up that I had to take a bathroom break at work to tell Isaiah. I needed some way to get it off my mind.

"Maybe you just had too much to drink last night. I was feeling unbalanced myself."

"Yeah maybe." I bit my finger nail.

"Are you doing anything later maybe we can have some more drinks later get your mind off things?"

"I tell you I had a nightmare probably because of drinking and you want to drink some more?"

"Just trying to help man."

"Well about that." I bit back my lip.
"I'm going to the bar later to meet up with someone."

"Someone...as in...a girl?"

"Yeah." I felt embarrassed it's been a while since I've talked to another girl besides my ex.

"Moving on already it's about time Rome."

"Yeah, but there's a thing."

"Come on Roman what is it? She's not one of the girls on the street is she?"

" Is that what you think of me?"

"Spit it out!" He yelled.

I let out a shakey breathe and count to three.
"It's sudden she just messaged me last night."

"Last night what are you crazy?" You can hear the confusion and anger building in his voice.
"What if she's one of those girls that sets guys up to get robbed or if she is a he?"

"Look I have nothing else to do and it's been a while since I've been out so I thought why not."

He stood quite for about three minutes.

"I'm having Mackenzie come with
me." Mackenzie is my only way out of Isaiah's rath.

He waits to the count of five to make any noise at all.

"Mackenzie huh?" His voice came back down.

I remained silent.

"Alright Rome just be careful please, don't want you ending up on the news got it."

"You worry to much."

"Yeah, well, I got to go tell me how it goes."

"Yeah."

He hangs up.

I feel like I just told my mom all of this and a big wave of relief just washed over me.

Now that the hard part is over let's see who this girl is...as if I'm not scared enough.

"He sounds like a good friend you should definitely go out tonight." My co-worker says from the next stall.

"Shut up Tim." I banged on the stall. "And hand me some toilet paper."

Work couldn't have moved any slower. I watched the clock all day and each hour my heart pounds even harder leaving me feeling anxious.
Now that it's time to go, I regret making this happen.
