It had been a month since Link last saw Dark. He had been ordered back to the castle to protect Princess Zelda again. He was now walking with Zelda through the woods like they used to. She went on and on and on about things she found fascinating about Link's adventures. He was walking right by her side when she suddenly stopped.

"Link, I...I need to tell you something," she hesitated.

Link realized her cheeks and the tips of her ears were going red. This told him exactly what she was going to say next.

"I...," she took a deep breath. "Link, I-"

Link heard the whistling sound of an arrow and then Zelda was cut off. She fell into Link's arms, her body completely limp. Link's shock quickly turned to anger as he saw three Sheikah men approach him slowly, weapons at the ready. Link fought back tears as he laid Zelda's body down in front of him.

Dark, where are you? I need your help.

Pain irrupted in his body, and he leaned over. He could hear the men surround him. The one behind him jumped up and raised his weapon, prepared to kill Link.

I thought you'd never say that.

He took is sword out and blocked the attack. He whipped around and stabbed the man, the dark red blood splattering on Link's light blue tunic. He cursed under his breath while ramming the second man in the ribs with the hilt of his sword. As the third man came up, Link looked him straight in the eye, laughed, and walked past him. When he was right next to the man, he grabbed the man's head and yanked it to the side, instantly breaking his neck.

The sensation of power left Link and he dropped to his knees.

When Link woke up, he was in his house, all alone. He got up and tiredly went about his day as if nothing much had happened. But he knew that Zelda was dead and that he had killed those men.

Link started making something, he couldn't even tell what he was doing. He was just fumbling around, thinking about Zelda, the events that had just taken place, what he knew she was about to say, and Dark. He snapped out of it and looked at what he had made. He threw it at the wall and rested his elbows on the table. He held his head in his hands and willed himself not to cry. He soon got up and picked up the thing and placed it on the table. He got lost in his mind, telling himself that Zelda was dead because of him. He started pacing and was only stopped by a light grey hand shoving him against the wall.

"Stop."

Link looked at Dark, who's skin had gotten darker to the point where it was a light grey. It looked like Dark was...crying. His hand shook the slightest bit.

"It wasn't your fault," Dark choked. "Some else wanted you two dead."

Link shook his head and cried.

"If I hadn't been distracted and only focused on Zelda, I would've heard them," Link cried.

"They're trained assassins, Link! You wouldn't have been able to hear them no matter what the circumstance was!"

"I was supposed to protect her though! I was supposed to be able to hear them and stop them! I can't do anything right... I'm not fit to be a knight... Why-"

The next thing Dark did was a blur.
