One month later...
Link stared at Dark in utter shock. The once albino-looking young man now had grey skin and black hair. Dark was wearing his Gerudo outfit, since he and Link were going to visit Damian.
"Oh my Hylia," Link said.
"Shut up," Dark groaned. "Let's go."
Link giggled and the two headed for Gerudo Village.
"What the..."
Damian looked at Dark's new look and tried to take it all in. She then took a deep breath and let the two into her small house. As soon as they had all sat down, Damian rubbed her temples and sighed.
"You know something," Dark growled. "But you're not telling us what it is. What's going on?"
Damian's eyes were dark as she looked at the two. Link stiffened. Damian was always very happy and flamboyant, so it scared him to see this side to her. Her eyes twinkled red, and she straightened up, looking at them very seriously.
"Something's going to happen," she said plainly. "I don't know what, exactly, but it isn't good. I keep having dreams...No, nightmares... There's someone out there. And he's coming for you two. He doesn't have good intentions."
"What does he look like?" Link asked quietly.
"I only saw bright blue eyes and black hair," Damian said. "Something's not right about him. Like he's not supposed to be here. There's something ancient about him...although he looks young."
"How do you know these aren't just weird dreams, or something?" Dark asked.
"I've had dreams like these in the past," Damian responded. "I can tell the difference between a weird dream and a prophetic dream."
Link was silent through all of this. But he knew this wasn't a coincidence. He distinctly remembered that the man from his nightmare had blue eyes. He looked at Dark, with his new appearance. What the hell's going on!?
"You two need to be ready for anything," Damian said, looking at both of them in turn. Her eyes lingered on Link longer. "We don't know what this could bring. By the way, Link." Link straightened a little. Damian grabbed a book from the pile of them next to her and tossed it to him. "Read that. You should know more about that mark."
Dark and Link were both confused by how she knew. She chuckled softly.
"I can sense the Dark Mark on you," she explained. "It's not that hard to figure out that that 'tattoo' is a Mark."
"How in Hylia's name can you sense it?" Dark asked. "People can only sense it if-"
He froze, looking shocked. He shook his head, as if not able to believe something.
"What?" Link asked, setting the book Damian had tossed to him in his lap. "If what?"
"Nevermind," Dark whispered.
Damian was smirking mischievously. What was she hiding? And why was she hiding it?
"Who are you?" Dark breathed.
Damian laughed, but it sounded more like a cackle to Link.
"That's a good question, sweetheart!" she laughed. "I am so many things. I have many nicknames. The Mother of Dragons, Queen of Dragons, The Hero's Companion, and many, many others. But I'm also known as the sister of the Gerudo chieftain."
"Riju has a sister?" Link asked. "But you look Hylian."
"Riju died," Dark sniffed. "And one of the true heirs was found. Turns out she looks Hylian, too."
"Violet," Damian said, smiling. "Yeah, that's my sister."
Link and Dark were both unsettled by all of this. This friend of theirs was suddenly acting like someone else completely. It was...strange, to say the least.
"Speaking of my sister, I promised her I would have lunch with her today," Damian sighed. She got up and brushed off her skirt. "Please read that book, Link. And return it when you're done."
Link and Dark both got up, with Link giving a small nod. As the two started to walk out, he could have sworn he saw the hilt of a blade in the corner of the room.
