"YOU know, Mackenzie, it's a good thing that Ashton kid told me about you and Johnny." Her mother says, looking down at her phone.
Mackenzie pauses, the new information surprising her, "W-What?"
"He came here the day you went to the mall. You've been acting a lot more decently these past few weeks-maybe you won't even need a revolution for the New Year!"
"Does that mean I can get my phone back?" Mackenzie wonders out loud, ignoring her mother's comment, Melissa nodding, digging in her purse, grabbing it and handing to Mackenzie, "Here you go, do not make the same mistakes-I'm trusting you."
"Got it." Mackenzie says, quickly turning on her phone.
"If I even catch you talking that boy again, it won't be pretty for anyone, you understand?"
Mackenzie sighs, why had her mother been acting like this? Mackenzie has seen no difference in the way she acts, "I understand, mom."
