The Element Academy

A long trip

It wasn't been that long since the train left the station. Smudge continued to lisen to her music as she looked out the window. When a song she really liked came on she would hum it to quietly to herself. As one of her favourite songs was halfway though and Smudge was just getting into the song,she felt a tap on her shoulder.

Smudge turned around to see three girls standing at the end of the seat. The one in front was the shortest,probably no more than four feet tall,she had long brown hair,down to just above her knees and green eyes. It looked like she was wearing a light pink frilly shirt but it was hard to tell over her arms being crossed,she had a light blue frilly skirt to go with it. The girl to her right was probably Smudges height,agian with brown hair,well they all had brown hair,they all had the same shirt and skirt just different colours. The girl on the right had a light green shirt with a darker green skirt,she also had one blue streak in her hair. The girl to the left had a green streak in her hair, with a purple shirt and a yellow skirt.

"Can I help you?" Smudge asked turning down her music
"You can start by taking out those damn ear buds," The short girl said pulling the earbuds out of Smudges ears.
"Now what do you think you're doing on this train?" The short one asked
"Um, I'm on this train for the same reason as everyone else."
"That's no a good enough excuse, especially with that type of...whatever that is." The short girl and her blue streaked friend were looking at the Flower with a semi confused look.

"What's my mp3 got to do with this?" Smudge asked confused
"Well, that thing is obviously old." The girl with the blue streak said
"And so, that indicates that your family is most likely poor. Thus you have no place at a big academy like the Element academy." The shorty sneered
"Well I'm sorry that I seem poor," Smudge raised her voice "But that gives you no reason to say I can't go to this academy!" Smudge stood up "For all you know this could be the only way to save my family!"

The shorty just smirked "Well good luck fitting in at the academy, poor one." The shorty and her blue streaked friend turned and left to their seats. The third one just stood there,obviously distant.
"SANTANA!" The green streak jumped
"Oh. Coming Floret!" She ran up to her friends

A few hours had passed and nothing really interesting had happened. Smudge just listened to her music and transferred from drawing, to reading, to back to drawing and other times just sitting there doing nothing. The trip was very..

Boring

I just hope things get more interesting Smudge thought to herself with a sigh
Then the thought of those girls that came to see Smudge earlier came to mind
What was there deal anyway? Coming up to me just to say I wouldn't fit in.
"Well excuse me that I'm so high tech." Smudge mumbled to herself in frustration

Smudge noticed a person standing at the end of her seat. Just a normal girl with really long blond hair, like really long. She was wearing a pink shirt and a blue skirt, and looking down at the floor.
So many skirts
"Can I help you?" Smudge asked pulling an ear bud out
The girl didn't respond, she just continued to look at the ground.
"Um, is something wrong miss?" Smudge was curious as to why the girl just stood there and looked at the ground
"If it's the seat you want you can sit here." Smudge smiled and turned back to the window looking out at the forest.

Smudge heard a couple of foot steps, and a quiet creek from the seat, Smudge smirked.
"I-I'm shy...."
"Pardon?" Smudge turned to the blond girl
"I'm........shy," the girl mumbled
"Shy?" Smudge asked confused "As in you're shy personality wise,or that's you name or something?"
"Person......ality" she stammered quietly, and hugged her legs
"Umm," Smudge smiled and patted the blond girls shoulder "That's okay, everyone's shy at some point. Others, well, all the time."

The girl just hugged her legs tighter
"Uum," Smudge didn't know what to do and was freaking out a little
"Is there a reason why you're sitting with me?" Smudge wasn't sure if that was the right thing to say.
"No." The girl was quiet for a moment "I just don't have friends here..and, you looked lonely" she mumbled the last few words
"Well, I guess you could say that," Smudge slid down in the chair a little "It's just...everyone I know got left behind at home," Smudge leaned against the wall of the train "None of my friends who applied made it, so it's gonna feel like moving to a far away town and having to make new friends and meet new people even though you really don't want to. You know?" Why am I asking this? I don't even know this person

"Yeah,it's hard," Smudge looked at the girl and she let her legs down "Making friends was never my strong point, and my....shyness doesn't help. It's probably why I only have one friend." The girl faced Smudge as Smudge sat up and gave a small smile
"I'm Ignite Keanfer," she held out a hand "what's yours?"
"Aqua Misfery," Smudge took her hand "But call me Smudge" Smudge smiled once again.

"Just out of curiosity, you wouldn't happen to know anything about the three girls with matching clothes and a streak in their hair, would you?" Smudge asked
"You mean Floret, Fairy and Sanata. The FFS girls," Ignite looked at the floor and held her hands
"FFS?"
"Don't ask what it means,but basically they're a group of girls who care about no one but themselves, and they look down on pretty much everyone." Ignite twiddled her thumps, she was obviously distressed about this topic.
"I'm guessing you went to school or something with them before?" Smudge leaned back in her chair, turning of her Flower.
Ignite sighed "Yes, and it was a horrible year. If they come up to you just ignore what they say."

"Well they already came up to me,and that Sanata character seemed really distant. But changing the subject, what do you like?" Smudge asked
Ignite looked at Smudge and gave a smile
"Well,"

From where the train currently was and all the way to the ferry, Smudge and Ignite talked about what they liked, disliked and found many similarities. They quickly became friends and agreed that if they needed something they would go to each other, since they were both going to a new place.

When they finally got to the ferry Smudge stood outside and stretched
"That ride was to long,"
"And it's only going to get longer." Said Ignite as she came up beside Smudge
"Yes well, after the ferry is the academy." Smudge smiled and gave Ignite a thumps up
"Yes it is, isn't it?" Ignite gave a big smile
"Race you to the ferry!" Smudge ran off into town
"Wait Aqua!" Ignite ran after Smudge "We aren't leaving till tomorrow!"
