Charmed Legacy

Chapter One, Part 1

"Hello," P. J. said, picking up her cell phone.

"Hey, how's my little Ladybug?" Phoebe asked. "I miss you already."

"Mom, I just moved down the street. And I'm 18. I'm a big girl now. I'm not a little kid, anymore."

"I know, sweetie, but you'll always be my little Ladybug. And no matter how much you try, you'll never change that. Now, how's Parker and Peyton?"

"Fine. We're all just fine."

"Well, I'm sorry but your emotions says otherwise. Now, what's wrong?"

"Oh, crap! There's that empath thing again, Mom. I can't hide anything from you, can I?"

"Nope. So spill it," Phoebe said, surprising her by opening the front door.

"Mom, you can't just walk into my apartment like that," P.J. said, putting down her cell phone. "You ever heard of knocking?"

"Why should I? I'm paying for this fancy apartment, aren't I?"

"But..."

"Fine," she said, turned around and walked back outside, then knocked on the door. "That better?"

"Yes, much. And thank you very much for respecting my privacy. I appreciate it."

"You're welcome. Now, talk to me. I'm here for you. You know that."

"I'm worried about this whole Charmed Legacy thing, alright. Just because I'm the oldest, I'm responsible for Parker and Peyton?"

"Honey, I'm sorry, but it's your destiny. Just like it was Prue's to take care of me and Piper."

"But they're the bad****s, not me" P.J. argued. "And besides, that's a lot of responsibility."

"So? You can handle it. I know you can. You're a Halliwell. And besides, I have faith in you."

"I'm glad someone does."

"Hey, your sisters learned, and so can you. Now, here, put these on," Phoebe said, handing her the boxing gloves and sliding them onto her hands, at which point she did likewise. "You ready?"

"Alright, I guess."

"I guess? No. You know. Remember that. Be assertive. Be confident. Never show fear. Never. And, above all, be strong. Cole may have been The Source of All Evil, but he did teach me one thing. And that's that demons worship strength. And if you're going to defeat a demon, then you're going to have to play just as dirty as he, or she, does. Got it?"

"That's easy for you to say. You've been doing this your whole life."

Suddenly, Phoebe's eyes grew wide with anger, rage, literally scaring her daughter. She'd seen that look way too many times, and inmediately cowered in fear.

"No, Mom, please. I don't want to do this, anymore."

"P.J., you're my heart. And I love you dearly. But Parker and Peyton finally learned. And so are you. Whether you like it or not," Phoebe said, and went to wailing on her with the gloves.

"Why are you doing this to me?"

"Because I don't want you to die. Now, suck it up. You hear me?!"

"But, Mom..."

"Don't but, Mom me. You think a demon's going to have mercy on you? No, he's going to kill you. And I mean really kill you. And, then where are you going to be, huh? Dead, that's what. And you know what? I love you way too much to ever let that happen. Now, don't just stand there. Get mad. Fight back."
