I made my way along side Cat to our next class - English. I took a seat next to her before being greeted by a few of my other friends. I looked out the window and saw a few latecomers walking to class. I smiled at the bird that flew past the window, nearly crashing into the tree in the process.

"Brie? Earth to Brie?!" I heard as I turn around. "Girl, you must be deaf or something - I was saying your name for ages!" Bethany exclaimed. Cat chuckled and I laughed.

"Sorry, sorry, what is it that you were saying?" I asked.

"I said, how was your weekend?" She said.

"Yeah, it was alright. I just finished off my science homework and then relaxed." I replied. "How was yours?"

"Mine was very nice. Went shopping on Saturday and then chilled on Sunday." Bethany said. I nodded.

I looked out the window again. I felt happy here. It had only been here for a few days but I seemed to fit in.

I continued to watch the bird. I saw black. And then I saw the peaceful bird outside again. I realised that someone had walked past me. I turned back to see a guy sit down four seats behind me. He foraged in his bag for quite a long time before retrieving a pen. He looked up and I recognised him as the boy who took me to my locker on my first day here. What was his name again?

I heard footsteps and realised Mrs Lemke coming in and placing her books on the table. "Sorry I'm late everybody!" She exclaimed. "I'll just quickly mark the attendance roll and we can continue on with the lesson."

She began working her way down the list. I wasn't really listening to be honest.

"Aimee Royston?" I heard her say.

"here." came a small voice from the back of the classroom. She was surrounded by her friends and could somewhat be described as the people who couldn't care less about class.

"Sabrina Sampson?"

"Here." I said. "But could you please call me Brie instead?" I asked looking down, embarrassed by my full name. Why do they have to put your whole name on the attendance? So stupid.

"Of course Sa-. I mean, Brie." She spoke.

"Mary Smith?"

No answer.

"No Mary today? Unfortunate that she is missing out on our first English class!" Mrs Lemke said.

"Georgia Stark?"

"Here, miss." Georgia said, raising her hand slightly. Her hair was in a nice and neat bun. She wore glasses and a cardigan and skirt.

"Harold Styles?"

"Its Harry." He spoke. Harry! That's his name!

"Okay then, Mr Styles. But I do not appreciate your tone."

"Its Harry. Not Mr Styles and definitely not Harold." He spoke again.

"Harry, go and wait outside please. I will be out in a minute. Now." She spoke.

Harry sighed as his chair legs skidded against the ground rather harshly. He got up and left the classroom.

"Just get a start on your Essay. It will be for homework anyways." Mrs Lemke said before leaving the classroom to speak to Harry.

I pulled my laptop from my bag and saw the email Mrs Lemke had sent is regarding details on the essay.

I started typing my thoughts onto a blank document. I didn't actually know what I was typing but I couldn't care less because I just wanted to get this over and done with.

The bell rang when I was halfway through the second paragraph of my essay. I sighed as I pulled out my planner and noted to finish it off for homework.

I packed everything into my bag before standing up to leave. I started walking towards the door but turned around to double check I hadn't left anything behind.

Harry was collecting his things from his desk and placing them in his bag. He looked up at me momentarily before looking back down at his desk to pick up the last of his pencils.

I continued to make my way to the door when I got pulled aside by Mrs Lemke. The only people in the room were Harry, her and me.

"Brie, how was your first English class?" She asked.

"Good thank you. Very different from my previous school." I chuckled.

"Oh and what school was that?"

"A school in Australia." I replied.

"Wow, Australia! I never knew you were from Australia. Yet you have an American accent?" She exclaimed.

"Well, I am American and Australian and I had a really profound Aussie accent but my American one is starting to come back to me." I say.

"So, tell me about Australia." She replies.

This woman was cutting into my lunch and to be honest, it was kinda pissing me off.

"What do you want to know?" I chuckled uneasily.

"What school did you go to, where did you live, things like that."

"Well, I lived in Sydney and I went to Norwest Christian college."

"Oh lovely!" she exclaimed

As far as I was concerned, this was the most awkward conversation I have ever had with any of my teachers, both here and in Australia. Mrs Lemke was probably about 60 years old and bound to forget everything I had just said.

I think she could see my growing agitation and frustration as she said she hopes I have a good year of English and wishing me my best.

By that time, Harry has already left the room. I was curious into why he stayed to listen to our conversation. I was also wondering why he was in my class. He didn't seem like he would be in English.2, not calling him dumb or anything.

His 'bad boy' persona just made him seem like a rebellious person who just didn't want to try in school.

I let my thoughts pass as I dump my books in my locker and grab an apple from my bag. I don't eat cafeteria food. I was kind of on this diet thing.

To be honest, I don't really have the nicest body and I am overweight but I hope I can change that.

I find Bethany and Cat sitting on a bench with some other friends and sit with them. They are talking about the most 'datable boys.'

Like, what does that even mean, I think to myself?

I get bored so I decide to open my laptop and continue writing my essay while eating the apple.

My ears perk up at the mention of Harry Styles.

"He's so hot." Claire says

"Yeah and he's so the bad boy type." Tash says.

"He seems really secretive and independent." I say.

They all turn and look at me.

"And why would you think that?" Bethany asks.

"I dunno, I guess it's just-...I dunno actually." I reply, confused.

Why do I think he's secretive and independent? I have never even spoken to him.

It seems a bit weird, if you ask me. Good grades yet a bad boy. How is that even possible?

I sigh and I shake my head before continuing to finish my essay.
