What the heck is going on? Why is Lord Uroko being so protective of me? Why is Tsumugu glaring at Lord Uroko? Could he be... upset with Lord Uroko for some reason? Why? I don't understand.
"Lord Uroko, why are you so involved with Chisaki?" Tsumugu asked exasperated.
"What do you mean?" Lord Uroko asks calmly.
"You are the scale of the sea god yet a girl who now lives on land has your attention and my intuition is telling me that there is a reason. Mind sharing with all of us?"
I look around and see everyone's eyes on Lord Uroko. He smirks and looks at me with a meaningful look and the shiny thing in the sea comes to mind. I lightly pushed both of them away from me and tried standing on my own. A huge wave of dizziness came over me and I felt myself falling. Again, Lord Uroko's strong arms catch me and lifts me bridal style. I look up at his face and for once his face looks serious.
"You should eat something." Lord Uroko said in a commanding voice. Something in me felt compelled to listen.
"Yeah, I should... eat..." It was quiet for who knows how long when the doorbell rang. Akari quickly offered to get the door. It was the food that she ordered for everyone. In swift movements, Lord Uroko set me down at the table and we all had a very awkward dinner. Awkward because everyone ate quietly with wide eyes. Awkward because Tsumugu glared at Lord Uroko the entire time. Awkward because Lord Uroko insisted on feeding me in front of everyone. I was blushing like crazy but I let him feed me because something in me felt like I had to. I don't know how to explain it.
After dinner, Lord Uroko carried me to my room and shut the door behind him. He put me down and leaned against my door. Time to talk I guess.
"Lord Uroko..." I started to say until he interrupted me.
"I know, I know. You have tons of questions and you need some answers."
"Yes"
"You're birthday is coming up, Chisaki." He said while looking at me with a weird look on his face.
"Uh, yeah. It is... tell me. What does that mean to you?" I asked.
"A lot actually. I can't say much because walls have ears..." He glanced behind him and I heard a noise outside of my bedroom door. We both sighed heavily.
"I'm assuming this means that I have to wait even longer for answers to my questions?" I asked a little bit annoyed. Why is everyone being so nosy?
"Mm, no. You've been having the same dream recently, correct?"
"Yeah..."
"All I will say about that now is that I want you to choose the shiny thing in the sea and you have to decide before your birthday. You're birthday is in two weeks. Keep that in mind."
After saying that, Lord Uroko disappeared through my open window. He wants me to choose the shiny thing in the sea? What exactly is the shiny thing? If Lord Uroko is involved in some way, then I'm guessing that it's important. I need to find out but how? Shioshishio. I have to go there. Surely Lord Uroko can give me some answers there. A knocking at my bedroom door pulls me out of my thoughts. I open the door to see Hikari, Manaka and Kaname there smiling at me.
"May we come in?" Kaname asked politely.
"Yeah, of course." I answer with the best smile I could.
"Chi! Are you feeling better? How long have you been sick? I heard that you broke up with Tsumugu. I thought you loved him. Why would you break up with him?" Manaka asked in her sweet little voice.
"I don't think I can answer your questions right now, Manaka. I'm sorry." I said with a soft and kind voice.
"But why not?" Manaka asked. Not willing to drop the subject.
"Because I don't really know the answers myself." I gave her the best reassuring smile that I could and she smiled back. It was always so easy to reassure Manaka.
"Chisaki" Hikari said my name in an almost upset voice "What did Lord Uroko mean about your dream?"
Ah. So they were the ones eavesdropping.
"I really don't know what he was talking about. I'm really sleepy so please excuse me." I shove all three of them out of my room and close the door behind me. This whole situation was giving me a headache.
I opened my eyes and the ocean was right in front of me. The shiny thing in the sea illuminated the water like the stars in the sky. I couldn't believe that such a beautiful thing existed. I reached out for it when Tsumugu stopped me as usual. I look at Tsumugu's concerned face for a moment and looked back at the sea. It needs me and I need it. That's all I know. Am I ready to make this choice? The shiny thing reaches for me and my heart yearns for it. I chose...
I shook awake. My heart was racing. I need to see Lord Uroko now. I looked at the time and it was almost five in the morning. I got dressed and headed to the sea. As if he knew that I was going to see him, Lord Uroko was waiting for me on the beach. I looked at him with a serious expression.
"I need to know." was the only thing that I said to him. Lord Uroko immediately knew what I was referring to and grabbed my hand.
"Chisaki, once you know, there is no turning back. You have to decide." He looked concerned.
"I know but I really need to know, please." I pleaded with my head bowed down. There was a pause before he answered.
"Alright. I'll tell you everything..."
*Hey guys! I know I know. I'm a dirty liar who said she was going to update every end of the week but didn't. I promise to make it up to you guys. I know this chapter is a little shorter than previous ones but I decided that this cliff hanger of an ending was fun xD. I already have an idea for the next chapter so I might update it this same weekend. Let me know what you think of this chapter. I took so long to update because of writer's block. I know how I want the story to go but I don't know specifics until I actually write. Also, I don't want to go through the story too fast or too slow. Let me know if you enjoy this pace. Thanks again for reading! I love you guys!*
