Before assembly they had to meet on the tennis courts even when it was freezing cold like today, and conveniently the teachers were always late. Lillianna saw two girls talking, laughing and occasionally glaring at her, these weren't two random girls though. They used to be friends they had been loads of them to begin with; Ellie, Belle, Ben, Jake, Harriet, Lillianna, Lucas, Gloria and Naomi. That was three years ago. Ellis was first to leave and though Lillian was sad to see her go, she was happy she was going to a good school, then Bethany left, the two were never really close. Then one by one they all migrated to different friendship groups. All except Lillianna, Lucas, Gloria and Naomi. The girls were meant to be best friends and for a while they were, then suddenly they stopped asking her to join in, they would make plans just the two of them right in front of Lillianna, they made her feel bad for the clothes she liked, the music she liked. Made her feels unwanted and that everything was her fault. The reason every one left was her fault, it wasn't really. The friendship was toxic. Then at the start of year 11 she couldn't take it anymore, and stopped hanging out with them at break, and then a few months later she stopped hanging out with them at lunch. The twins would go to the sixth form, to a practice room in music. Sometimes if Levi was there he would come to. And slowly she felt happy again. Until Gloria and Naomi found out she wasn't going to the library any more, she didn't tell them she didn't want to be friends with them because she knew they would guilt trip her, like they had done many many times before. They got her alone. They also got two other girls involved even though it was no concern of theirs. They told her she was a bad friend, a horrible person. Screaming and shouting. They did it the next day as well, only this time they wanted her to apologise for lying to them. Obviously they were never in the wrong it was all always Lillianna's fault. Her response? She laughed at them, "gesù cristo, mi stai prendendo in giro. voi due potete andare a scopare voi due, voi due e tutti" (jesus christ, you've got to be kidding me. you two can go fuck yourselves, you two can and all). They hated the fact that she spoke to them in italian "speak English bitch" Naomi demanded
"I said, go fuck yourselves" she said each word slowly, Lucas found it hilarious the looks on their faces was priceless. Lillianna had never spoken back to them before.

Lucas noticed who she was looking at and gave her a light squeeze on the arms 'it's okay, you know that right? They don't matter anymore, plus you won't have to see them ever again after this week.'

She smiled a real smile at this, and her smile was beautiful he rarely ever got to see it.

The teachers came a little while later and they all filed into the hall, it was the same thing every week; uniform, behaviour, no phones out, etc, etc. then after what felt like a century later they were dismissed, but the students helping with the food bank had to stay behind for a little while. Lillianna was one of those students, she was sweet she wanted to help everyone. 'I'll wait for you outside okay?' he murmured before standing up, she nodded in response. They talk about the kinds of foods they should bring in and that they had to encourage the other form groups to do the same.

They walked to business in a comfortable silence. It was further away then the rest of their lesson due to the fact that it was in the sixth form. They were doing revision for their upcoming mock exam, so not a very exciting lesson. Lillianna's notes were all colour co ordinate in pretty fonts with boxes and sub headings, Lucas's on the other hand were all in black pen, scrawly barely readable writing, much to his sisters distaste. 'You can use my colours you know?' he knew that, she had told him many times before. 'I know that' he replied.

When the lesson ended they walked to art, Lillianna was the best artist the Delaney's had ever seen. She could fake anything, she had done it before. She was the reason they all got sent to England, he brothers were impressed, their father on the other hand was far from it, or so he tried to seem. In art they were drawing food and were currently brainstorming their ideas however Lillianna being Lillianna had already finished all three ideas and her final idea. so she would just help Lucas with his art work, they would also talk and chat about random things. the lesson ended far too soon and they headed back to the sixth form for break, and Levi joined them in the practise room. the boys talked whilst Lillian quietly played the piano. Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji - Opus clavicembalisticum to be precise, and she played it with ease. she had always been an over achiever, she taught her self how to play the piano from the age of 6 after going to see an orchestra with Logan, she nagged and nagged her father till he finally complied to get her a piano. she did the same with ballet at the age of 3, Lillian and her mother went to watch the black swan and Lillian had never been more captivated in her mere 3 years of life. she begged her mother and father to let her do it. they were dubious at first, but they didn't regret it and she had been doing it ever since.

They headed back over to the high school for english, the day getting colder and colder, cloudier and cloudier. It also didn't help that the classroom was also cold, making it difficult for Lillian to write, well circle her answers. the test was easy and she finished quickly. when the rest of the student had finished that began reading through 'A Christmas Carol', Lillianna was already ten steps in front of the teacher and had the first stave and half of the second annotated in every single colour you could imagine. she'd done the same thing with Macbeth and the 15 poems. 'God your such an over achiever' Lucas joked.

'I know' she replied giving a shy smile.

Though she enjoyed literature listening to the teachers voice for an hour bored her, and lulled her to sleep. she woke up near the end of the lesson leaning against Lucas's shoulder, which was slightly wet. she rubbed her eyes before fully realising she had drooled all over him, 'I'm so sorry' she said sheepishly.

'don't worry about it princess' she felt less embarrassed than she did moments ago, but this was cut short when he whispered 'I'll get you back somehow' he laughed as she glared at him. everyone was dismissed. everyone except Lillianna. 'I'm really sorry I fell asleep miss, i really really didn't mean to. it was an accid-' her prefus apologies were cut off when the teacher asked, 'how much sleep did you get last night?'

'not a lot, i went to bed at like nine, but i just couldn't sleep and i kept waking up and yeah. so then after a couple of hours i kinda just gave up and annotated the novel' she got quiet as she said the last few words.

'let me see' the teacher commanded. Lillian complied and pulled it out of her bag, the teacher was astounded at the masses of post it notes and annotations in neon gel pen. 'do you want to teach my lessons instead cause it seems as though your more prepared for this than i am' she joked

the two of them walked back to their little practise room and ate their lunch, in silence whilst Lillianna read and re read over her physic notes. she was a smart girl and did well in her lessons but that wasn't good enough for her, she had to be the best. Physics confused her, she understood the formulae and the maths side of it but not the actual physics side to it. she could remember them, but would often get bits of them confused. there was too much to remember; momentum, force, the EM spectrum, radiation. too much to remember. they lined up in lines from A-H the Delaney twins were both in H, Lillian in H2 Lucas in H3. worry was etched on her face, she kept attempting to crack her knuckles and her neck, hands diving in her pocket for a cigarette. this was the most stressed he had seen her.

He hugged her in an attempt to calm her, but it was a futile attempt. They all silently filed into the exam hall, row by row. And took their seats. The invigilator went through the same old boring mandatory procedure. No phones. No smart watches. No notes. Etc etc.
Then they began.
Lucas looked up from his test paper to see his twin sister twirling her pen in her right hand, he could also see the edge of a nicotine patch poking out the back of her blazer. He had always wondered how she got through the 8 hours of school without a cigarette.

The questions weren't that bad, she had answered all but one. How did microwaves aid in the theory of the big bang?
That stumped her, what relivence did microwaves have to the big bang.

She finished with 5 minutes to spare. Once they were out the twins both headed off to maths. 'God that exam was bloody awful. How do you think you did?' Lillian asked Lucas.
'i think I did okay, but some of the questions were Hella confusing' Lillian nodded her head in agreement.
Maths quickly flew by and before they new it they were all in Logan's car on their way home.
