“Tell me” I growled at Thomas
“If your brother told you something that was important to him that you kept a secret, would you tell someone?” I hate to admit but he had a good point.
Urgh!
“She’s my best friend”
“She’s my sister” He gave me another one of his blank expressions before leaving. I stood there for a minute before looking through the window to see if Cameron was still there; he was.
“So...” He said, trying to get me to spill
“He wouldn’t tell me anything” He gave me a half smile
“We’ll find out” A few seconds later the bell rang and it was time to make our way to Literature. We both had the same class so we walked together.
When we arrived, most of the class was already seated, including Violet. She saw us walk in together and a look of hurt closed her face before she smiled and waved at us.
“Back to normal?” I whispered in her ear as I sat in the seat next to her
“I’m fine” I knew when she was lying. She turned her head and suddenly, a spot on the wall seemed very interesting to her
“I bet” I whispered to myself under my breath but i’m sure that she heard me. Cameron, who was sat on my other side, was giving me weary looks. We had decided that it was better if I talked to her.
The class went by slowly, with Miss. Collins lecturing the whole lesson. I didn’t have chance to talk to Violet and had no other lessons with her before lunch so I guess I had till Lunch to think of something.
+Lunch+
I have nothing.
Nada.
Zero.
Zilch.
I have no clue what I’m going to say to Violet other than ‘Hey V! How’s your day so far? What you had for lunch? Why are you avoiding me? Any plans after school?’
“Chas!” It was Cam “She’s on her way”
“Got anything?”
“I thought you were meant to think of something!” He looked panicked
“I can’t think of a thing to say to her!” At that moment, she walked past us. Straight past us. Not even a hi or anything. We looked at her dumbfounded for a moment before following her and sitting down at our usual table.
“Hey guys” I said, sitting in my usual seat next to Austin apart from a small fact that Austin wasn’t even here.
“Hey girl” Amelia said with her signature grin and Evan just waved with a smile. Violet didn’t say anything, just kept staring at the table top. That’s when Austin chose to arrive. He sat down next to me and put his arm around my shoulder.
“Hey babe” Violet’s head twitched a little but she didn’t reply to anyone who spoke to her so I turned back to concerntrating on Austin.
“Hey” I said, blandly
“Please forgive me for this morning” He looked between Cam and I
“I do forgive you” I started to twiddle my thumbs, not looking him in the eye and making my voice cold.
“I know you, Chas. You can’t even look me in the eye”
“Because you accused me of cheating!” OK, that was a little loud. Most of the people surrounding us was now staring at us, intreged by our conversation, including Evan, Amelia and Violet. I was surprised to see Violet even looking up from her very interesting staring contest with the table.
