"Mr, Styles?" The group leader asked, telling me it was my time to introduce myself. I sighed and stood up, ready to look like a fucking idiot.
"My name is Harry, and I'm an addict."
"Hi, Harry."
"Good. Now, Harry. Could you tell us more about your addiction?" The group leader asked. I tangled my fingers together behind my band.
"Eh- I like alcohol, and drugs. Maybe a bit too much." I spoke, grinning.
"That's the whole reason we're here. You ask everybody this question, and we all answer the same fucking thing. Damn..." A man, who I had learned was named Derek spoke. Half of the group nodded in agreement, the other half either chuckled or stayed silent.
"Alright, thank you Harry."
That's how it continued for another fifteen minutes. Half of the people here were either high or drunk. I at least had the decency to sober up.
"So, now that we've all had the chance to introduce ourselfs. Let's talk! Who wants to start?" He spoke, way too cheery for my liking. We were here to talk about our problems and he made it sound like he was going to pull out cupcakes and put on children songs any minute now.
Nobody raised their hand, nobody wanted to go first. Understandable. "Okay, eh- Rebecca! Why don't you tell us something about your, eh..." He trailed off, frantically looked through his papers.
"Alcohol problem?" She spoke, sagging down a little more in her uncomfortable looking chair.
"Yes! Exactly! Go ahead." The group leader spoke, who was named Eric, by the way.
Rebecca chuckled. "No thank you."
"Are you sure you don't want to share anything with the group?"
"Do you want to share anything with the group, Eric?" Rebecca asked, raising her eyebrows at the man.
Rebecca had dark brown, a little over the shoulder length hair. She had an eyebrow piercing pierced through her thick dark eyebrows. She looked twenty something, and obviously had a big mouth. Her skinny jeans looked a little too tight around her fuller legs, and her hoody had a nasty stain on it.
"Well, we're not here for me." Eric said, laughing at himself because he thought he was funny. But he quickly turned his laugh into a cough when he noticed that nobody found him funny.
"Anyone else?" Eric asked, looking around the room. Of course, nobody offered to go.
"Eeh-" Eric said while he looked through his papers again. "What about... James?"
A skinny man in his fifties looked up, he simple just nodded and stood op.
The cardigan he was wearing was way too big for his body, like he lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. His beard was starting to get gray, and was pretty long.
He kept his hands deep in his pockets when he started to speak.
"Well, I've been coming to this group for about three years. I have been through a lot, which made me drink a lot..." He took a few long seconds before he continued.
"I currently live in a homeless shelter. I couldn't pay my bills anymore because I spent my money on alcohol. Eh- Coming here has actually helped me. I've made some great friends, like Greg." He turned around, and another middle aged man raised his hand and gave a crooked smile.
"Do you know why had has taken you three years?" Eric asked.
"Eh- Yeah I was stubborn, I couldn't see that I had a problem."
