"Will she live?" Noah's voice sounds so devastated. I can't open my eyes, or move my body. I feel like I am trapped in my own body.
"Yes, but in order for her to survive, we need to put her into a medically induced coma. She needs time to recover. Her brain is swelling too much. We may need to drill small holes into her skull to allow for the swelling." An unfamiliar voice explains.
"Mr.Centineo? I am Detective Raymond, and this is my partner, Detective Anderson. We have some questions for you regarding your wife's accident." A very strong female voice interrupts the deafening silence.
"Uh yeah- Okay. I will be back baby. I promise." He whispers the last part into my ear. I can hear him walking away. Everything goes completely quiet and completely dark...
I wake up in my childhood home. Sitting on the big brown couch in the living room. My childhood dog, a chubby beagle mix runs up to me and jumps on my lap. I pet him and hold him.
"Mama! Mama! You are here! Auntie Christine is here! She has been watching me while we wait for you." A beautiful little girl, with long brown curly hair, and freckles. She looks just like me, but has Noah's smile, and my mother's nose. Her eyes are a gorgeous hazel color. Her hair is pulled back into two ponytails. She looks to be about four. She stands next to a woman who looks like my father. Long black hair and big dark brown eyes. They are both walking down the stairs.
"Hi. I am Christine. Your sister. And this is Amelia, your daughter." The woman, Christine spoke. Her voice is very soft and pure.
"Hi mama!" The little girl shouts as she jumps into my arms.
"Oh my baby! I wanted to see you grow up! I love you and I miss you so much baby girl!" I cry as I hold her tighter.
"So I hate to split you up, but you need to go back. It isn't your time yet. You are meant to live. You shouldn't die until you are old. Mom wouldn't want it this way." Christine explains. She's right. It is not time for me to die. The thought is chilling, am I dead?
"I am sorry baby. I need to go." I say, sniffling.
"I know mommy. I will see you and daddy soon. I promise." She wraps her arms around my neck and hugs me tight. She lets go and smiles widely at me. Christine takes my hand in hers and walks with me towards a door, a door that I don't remember being there before. It is a large cherry wood door, and a gold handle. Christine opens the door and I step through it, into bright light.
I take in a deep breath and gasp very loudly. I jolt up suddenly and regret it immediately, my body is too sore and my muscles are really weak. A large hand grabs my own.
"Sup pretty boy." I say huskily. My throat is very dry and my mouth is parched. He hands me a cup of water, and I gulp it down quickly.
"How are you feeling?" He asks me.
"I don't know. Pretty out of it. How long have I been asleep?" I ask him. His face drops and he longs at his hands.
"Six months..." He whispers. I spit out my water, super dramatically.
"Six months?!!?" I scream.
"You had a really bad accident and your brain was swelling too much. The doctors put you in a medically induced coma to help you recover more." He explains.
"I want to walk." I say swiftly.
"You can't. Not yet. Your muscles haven't been used in months. You need to go to physical therapy to help you regain muscle strength to walk again." He explains.
