The next few hours consisted of a few short stops around the camp, but not too many. It seemed as though I wouldn't be see much around here any time soon, Harry seeming to want to keep the area around me a secret. To be fair, that was probably the right call. I'd been taking every opportunity to look for a way out of here. I needed to find Charlotte and Hayden, they probably think I'm dead...
I'd been back in my room for quite sometime. After Harry showed me the meeting chambers, he had Liam and whatever the other guy's name was escort me back.
Being locked up with just your thoughts was dangerous as I'd come to find out. Back in Uptopia, I never had the chance to process what was going on being I was kept on a tight schedule. Here, it was completely different. I miss my friends, I miss my parents, I miss having the freedom to walk outside when I want.
There was no doubt in my mind that I was escaping this place. I couldn't possibly be stuck here with murderers in the middle of nowhere, and for how long? Just to wash dishes and wipe Harry's ass...hell no. That wasn't what I was born to do, I was worthy of much, much more.
I hear the family beep that sounds the doors opening, and suddenly an armed man has entered my room.
"I have orders from the boss, follow me."
With that, I swiftly kick my feet out from under me and follow the unknown man out of my chilling room. At this point, I'd do just about anything to see anything but a steel wall.
The man trails behind me, his chest very close to my back, ordering me which turn to take. He leads me down a new set of hallways i've yet to see, this one with many more doors lining the walls. We come to a stop at a large, metal door, the armed man punching in a code before opening the door.
Behind the door is the largest room I have seen here thus far. On the far side of the room, I see equipment everywhere, from weights, punching bags, target boards, etc. On the opposite side of the room, I can make out a smaller room with a glass window peering in, a chair much like the one I see patients sit in placed in the center of the room. Screens and racks of unknown substances line the walls, and a repetitive beep can be faintly heard.
"Have a seat here," the man motions to a padded bench. "Boss will be here shortly."
Almost instantly, Harry walks in. He's wearing a plain, black v-neck and grey joggers. His shirt hugged his toned chest perfectly, outlining every muscle on his body. I gulp, quickly looking away before he catches me.
"Arcadia," he grabs my attention. "I assume you're wondering why you're here."
I simply nod, my eyes meeting his. His gaze is nothing short of intense, but i've had to get used to it.
"This is our evaluation room. It's where all newcomers are assessed on their skills, both mental and physical." He points towards the back room, "That's where we will go first," he states, waiting for me to get up.
"What is the point of all this? Last I heard, I was only good for washing dishes," I quip, raising a brow at him.
"Why do you always have to question things," he sighs in frustration.
"Maybe because you're a complete stranger to me? How am I supposed to know what you're going to do to me? You don't think I don't see all the tubes and needles in there?" I bite back, rising to my feet.
He stomps up to me, his face inches from mine. "You're fucking lucky a complete stranger saved your ass. You think you would be alive right now if I hadn't let you stay here? Because I'll easily throw you back out, no hesitation." His tone is rough, his breathes uneven and heavy.
