As I walked inside, everything looked completely normal. Too normal. I was about to ask Sawyer if he was joking, but I was given no time because he was already at the front desk talking to the older woman running it. This had to be some sort of a joke. That older lady was definitely not a villain. Plus, there was a family looking through books in the kids' section.
Sawyer smiled and turned around. "Follow me!" That's when I realized. The library had been closed for close to three hours. That had to be a family of villains. I followed Sawyer into the back of the library. We reached the young adult section and Sawyer searched for a book on one of the shelves. His face brightened and he pulled out a book.
"Twilight? Really?"
"Well, it's a good place to hide codes if no one is going to check it out." He flipped through the pages until he found a page that the corner had been turned down. "Ah, here we go. The code for the door is 134." He walked up to a door that read staff only. The handle had a keypad and Sawyer punched in the numbers. The door buzzed and together we went through the opening.
What I saw next what definitely something else. The room looked like it had been decorated by teenage boys who could care less, but then again, who's saying it wasn't? There were six card tables set up with chairs and another table that held finger foods and drinks.
"I feel like I'm at a little kid's birthday party," I told Sawyer.
"Good, because one of the kids you saw out there, it's his birthday."
"So, it doesn't normally look like this?"
"Well, minus the streamers."
"So, there is a child's birthday cake here normally too?" I questioned.
"Cake yes, but the cake it's decorated differently based on whoever brought it."
"I literally have no clue what's going on here. This feels like a crazy mess of a party put together last minute."
"You wouldn't be wrong. Let me introduce you to some of my friends." I followed him around the room until we grouped up with two other guys and a girl.
"Wait," I whispered. "Is that Aidan?" I said laughing.
"Yeah. Why?"
"Nothing." I was trying to hold my laughter. My dad calling Aidan a 'good example' was far from correct. "Are there a lot of villains from our school?"
"Naw, just you, me, and Aidan," Sawyer said a quick hello to the two boys and girl. "This is Kelsy Brown. I know her through school and I found her trying to rob a small business and joined her. After that, I asked her to this party."
"Hello." They each said in turn.
"I'm Elliot. Nice to meet you, Kelsy!" Elliot said with a brief wave.
"And I'm Samantha though most people call me Sam. It's nice to meet you as well."
Sawyer bent down to whisper something in my ear. "They both like each other but are too chicken to make a move. They have gotten closer this fall though. They are fun to watch and make a great villain team." I smiled and nodded. Sam gave us a look but said nothing.
"And I think you know me," Aidan said smiling.
"Pretty sure I do!" I said laughing. The others laughed along with me. They seemed like they would be great friends. The boys formed a circle and Sam and I went to get something to drink.
"You and Sawyer?" She asked obviously hinting at something more.
"No, only friends," I replied.
She shook her head in understanding. "I was wondering because he broke up with his old villain girlfriend about two weeks ago..."
"Oh, I didn't know that," I mumbled. "Is she here tonight?"
"Ya, the brunette over there," Sam said pointing. "Her name is Alana. She realized how much of a player he was and dumped his butt."
My eyebrows rose in surprise. "So, are you guys, not close friends?"
"We're friends sure, but doesn't everyone know he is a player? I wouldn't date him because as soon as we did, he would turn up with a new girl." I nodded but said nothing. "Why? You like him?"
"Well I mean he's not bad looking, but I would have to agree with just about everything you said. So, what do we even do at these anyways? Eat cake and drink punch?" I asked to change the topic.
"Oh sweetheart, did he tell you nothing? Well, obviously he didn't so you are in for a treat!"
Just then, an older man entered the room. The room became silent and no one moved. "I have the pairs made up. I'll post two copies around the room. Make sure you get a look and that you and your partner are ready to go in..." He paused looking at his watch. "In fifteen minutes."
"Ready to go for what?" I asked Sam.
"For the best part. We call it partners in crime. You team up with another villain, the one on the sheet, and go do something big. The quickest one back with the biggest gain is the winner and they keep what they get. The others have to figure out a way to return half of what they stole." She said as we walked toward one of the lists.
I searched for my name. When I finally found it, I looked to see who I was paired with. "I'm with Aidan," I said sighing.
"Oh come on, he is actually a great guy. Pretty good at what he does." She continued to search for her own name. "Oh, you got to be kidding me!"
"What?"
"I'm with Sawyer! He is gonna flirt so much. Well, I have no chance at winning but maybe you and Aidan will do well."
"Thanks!" I told her and I walked off to find where Aidan went.
"So, we were paired up?" Aidan asked me.
"Yeah, is that a bad thing?"
"Oh no, not at all. It's just you don't know your way around as well. We have to come up with a way to win the competition because I do not want to have to put anything back. once we steal something, heroes will be watching the places that were robbed."
"But how will they know that people have to return stuff?"
"We've done these long enough heroes have caught on. Now come on, help me figure something out!"
I sighed. I had no clue what I was doing here. I had never done any big heists. I guess this was going to be my first and I had to come up with something fast. "How about a few shops in the mall? We could do a whole bunch of smaller stores just stealing a little. That way, the heroes will have a harder time tracking us down."
"Not a bad idea Kelsy! Go suit up, we have three minutes until we can go."
A/N: Alright guys... Chapter 3 is out, how many of you are ready to see how good of a villain Kelsy is? Do you think she will be a good villain? Sorry for a those who like twilight, I was just making a joke and nothing more. I plan to cast the three new characters you met in this chapter. Anyways, thanks for reading and here are some fun questions.
Any casting ideas for any of them?
- I'm think of maybe Dylan O'Brien for either Elliot or Aidan but I'm haven't really started looking yet. I am also thinking Florence Hall for Samantha, but I am totally up for ideas!
Do you guys like the new people introduced? What do you think about them/any theories about any of them?
