You were a candle.
You shone so extravagantly bright for the amount of time you were suppose too.
Then, someone or something came along and blew it out.
I referred to you as a light in my life, because you made it brighter.
You made everyone's life brighter.
On the porch was when you shone brightest to me.
I loved every moment I spent with you.
I loved you.
I still do.
We had certain things we did together, and I treasure those today.
When you got me addicted to coffee with the help of her.
When we ate watermelon and chatted on that same porch you shone brightly at.
When we would go to the pool and I would scream.
"Look! Look! Watch this!"
.
I knew when your time would come.
I knew you were going to go away soon.
It didn't help when I saw you in the hospital that day when they told me I had to say goodbye to you in a few days.
It didn't help when I saw how much your face lit up when you saw me.
It didn't help when I held your hand and stood, quietly crying.
And yet, on the contrary of what I just said.
It did help.
I knew you were leaving soon, and it helps me know you're in a better place now.
I love you.
And I miss you.
Very much.
Dedicated to my loving Grandpa, who is no longer with me.
