As you walk out of the detention room with Rob, you realise that you don't even know where the cafeteria is. You stand in place for a second until Rob notices and turns back to you.
"Y/N?" He says, wondering why you're just standing there. "What are you doing?"
"...I don't know where the cafeteria is.." You say, embarrassed.
"I'll show you, then!" Rob chuckles, before grabbing your hand with his pink one and leading you around the hallways of the school. You feel your face heating up, and you try to stop blushing before Rob notices. You decide to zone out the world around you, and focus on your's and Rob's hands intertwined. His hand was so warm, and you had to fight back the urge to bring it up to your cheek and press it against you.
Suddenly Rob makes a sharp left turn, and you find that you two have reached the cafeteria.
"Here we are!" He says, letting go of your hand. You're kind of disappointed that you're not touching him anymore, but you're also grateful because now it was easier to hide your blush.
"Wow, this place is huge compared to my old school's cafeteria!" You say, looking around and taking it all in.
"Really?" Rob chuckles. "It isn't that big." He says, leaning back onto a wall.
"Yeah, my old school had, like..." You pause for a minute, trying to remember how many students your old school had. "...Maybe about 200 students?" You say uncertainly, and you could swear if Rob had a drink in his mouth, it would be all over you right now.
"WHAT? Jeez, what school did you go to? That's tiny!" He says, pushing himself off the wall and regaining his posture.
"I went to a school called Hazelglen... It isn't anywhere near here, though." You reply, scanning all of the students to try and better understand the community here.
"Huh. I've never heard of it." He says, slightly raising half his eyebrow.
You keep looking around the cafeteria until you see Gumball and Darwin sitting at a table, having what seemed to be a staring contest.
"Hey, that's the Gumball and Darwin that you hate, right?" You say, discreetly pointing over Rob's shoulder. Rob spins around so fast that you think his head might fly off his body. His pupil narrows as his eye locks onto the cat and fish duo, and his whole body seems to stiffen.
"Yup, that's them." Rob confirms through gritted teeth. "Come on, we need to go." He says, walking out of the cafeteria and beckoning for you to follow him.
"Why are we leaving? What's wrong?" You follow, wondering to yourself why you're obeying some random kid that you just met.
"They don't know I still come to school, and it's for the best. I hardly come though, so it isn't overly difficult to hide from them." Rob explains, leading you through the hallways of the school.
"Wait wait wait wait.... When I asked why you were in detention, you said that it was because of Gumball and Darwin, but how could it have been them if they don't even know you attend the school?" You question, suspiciously.
"Well, it wasn't them directly, per-say, but I was spying on them with a ladder through one of the top floor windows, and I fell. Onto Principal Brown. And fractured his arm, apparently." Rob explained, coming to a small room towards the back of the school.
"Wow, that... Only got you a detention?" You ask, following him into the small, dimly lit room.
"Well, he was kinda in too much pain to do much more." Rob shrugs, pushing aside a shelf to reveal another, slightly bigger, room.
"Woah, what is this place?" You ask, looking around the secret room.
"I don't really know, to be honest. After I escaped the v-" Rob winced, and then continued, "Uh... After I.... Uh.... Came back from a really long vacation, uh... My friends had moved schools and nobody knew me, so I had a lot of free time to look around and explore." Rob finishes, rocking back and forth on his feet.
"Hm." You hum, raising an eyebrow. "Anyway, how much time do you spend in here?" You say, trying to thin the tension.
"A lot," Rob replied honestly, "I guess I just have nowhere else to belong." He sighs, sitting himself down on a small couch at the back of the room.
"Aw, come on. You have to have some friends, right?" You say, trying to lighten the mood of the sad cyclops. Rob shook his head. "Nope." He says. "Nobody really remembers me." He brings his knees up to his chin and hugs his legs.
"Wow, that must've been one hell of a long vacation." You say, raising an eyebrow in skepticism.
"Y-Yeah..." Rob replies, his glitches becoming more prominent.
Suddenly, the bell rang and made you jolt slightly.
"Huh, we've been here for a long time.... Anyway, I have to get to class, I don't want another detention from miss apeshit." You say. Rob chuckles.
"Yeah, okay. You go, I need to do something here." Rob says, putting his feet back down on the floor.
"Are you sure? I don't want you to be la-" Rob cuts you off.
"I'll be fine. Nobody really remembers me anyway." He shrugged, signalling for you to leave.
"O-Oh. Okay. Um..... Bye.." You say, dragging your hand across the wall as you leave the room.
