I push myself up off the stoned path and investigate my surroundings.
The first thing I notice is the grass. Its grey colour shows that it is dead, but the amount of grass shows that it was once properly cared for. I try to look up at the sky, but some unknown force is keeping my head down. I push back against it, and with great difficulty, I see the sky. The sky is dark and fuzzy. I can't see any blue or even clouds. The sight of it fills me with great worry. I quit fighting the force and my head is pushed back down.
I look ahead and see a house with a black shingled roof that is slanted to an extreme point. There are three figures on the porch of the house. The three figures are Patton, Logan, and Roman.
I accidentally make eye contact with the creative side. My knees feel weak but stay stiff, like I had been standing for too long. Roman tears away from my gaze and opens the black door that leads into the grey house. He makes a motion to the other two and goes inside, Patton and Logan follow in suit.
I try to yell and make them wait for me, but before the words come out, they're shoved back down my throat. I look at the door as it closes. They left me out here.
I forced my numb legs to walk towards the house. I reach the door and turn the silver knob, walking inside. The first thing I see is a picture that was torn in shreds. I lay on my knees and piece it together. It was a picture of me from several years ago, back when I first entered the mind and refused to talk to anyone. I didn't even know this picture existed.
Why is it shredded though?
My chest tightens so I look up and try to breathe, but the sight of the ceiling scares me. It's cracked so badly that it could fall on me at any minute. I start to panic. My eyes dart wildly around the room, noticing how dark the corners are.
I see Patton walk down the equally dark hallway and I try to run to him but I'm pushed into a room and the door is shut.
I'm on my knees when I look around the room. Shivers are sent down my spine when I notice who I'm in here with.
The Dark Sides. Greed, Ignorance, Depression, Insanity, and so many more, with my least favourite, Deceit.
"You're one of us, Virgil." Deceit whispers in my ear. "Now, why don't you get up?" He offers his hand to me.
I feel my hand gravitating towards him but before I touch him, I jump to my feet.
"No!" I yell.
"What an awful mistake." Deceit chuckles and snaps his fingers.
Within an instant, the Dark Sides surround me, their eyes glistening with murderous intent.
I bolt to the door and open it, running down the hall where I saw Patton. The corridor came to a sharp turn and I peeked around the corner. All three of them, Patton, Logan, and Roman, were walking towards a door.
I go to join them, but once again I'm pushed back into a room and the door is slammed shut. I get up and try to open it, but it's locked from the outside. I pull and twist at the knob, hoping that it would give out but it never does. I hit the door in defeat.
I become painfully aware of how small the room is. I feel my heart pound against my chest and my stomach drop. I hear my blood rushing in my ears.
I feel like I'm dying.
My back hits the wall and I slide down it.
I can't do anything.
I'm trapped.
I need them to help me.
I need him to help me.
Why am I so useless?
