Dark Paradise (Poetry)

Annihilation

The mind wanders to various places,

From the brightest of things to the soul shattering ones.

The heart feels where the mind goes,

It gets overwhelming and breaks just like glass.

I hear the ticking on the clock,

Seconds turn to minutes and minutes seem like hours.

It seems like time is dragging,

But what we had was a lifespan of a flower.

Life has a way of showing us reality,

Your happiness gets snatched away right before you.

Even when we try our best,

There's nothing else that we can do.

We were two peas in a pod,

So different yet the same.

We made each other whole, no doubt;

But life just saw us as a game.

It's never easy to let go, I know;

We'll do our best to move on.

Our hopes, dreams and future plans;

Confident, I was in all of them, but now it's all gone.
