"The more I think about reporting to General Grandbard, the more I feel like something bad is going to happen to me." I mumbled while taking a sip of milk coffee at the mess hall. "Ah, I miss this flavor."
Being asleep for a full week made me miss drinking this.
Although milk tea would've been better, but I have to wait until my usual supplier comes back from Japan.
"Master." I almost choked at the sound of that. As I placed my cup down, I turned to find Bess bringing in a tray of food for breakfast.
"Good morning Bess."
"You're not eating Master?"
"I already did." I lifted my cup to show him. "I'm just having some coffee to wake me up."
Wouldn't want to start the day without some caffeine in my system.
"Wait." Before I could take another sip of coffee, Bess stopped me halfway. I raised a brow at the currently frowning Bess. "What's wrong?"
"Why are you drinking that blasted muddy water invented by yankees?" I blinked.
"Muddy water?" Sure coffee is made from water, but it wasn't a complete pile of dirt. "There's nothing wrong with it."
"It's mud."
"It's just ground beans, Bess." As I sipped more of my coffee, I could already see the displeased look on Bess' face.
'Uwah, what a heated distaste for coffee.' I wonder why he hates it so much. I doubt it's just because of the fact that it was made into a drink thanks to America.
"So why're you up this early Bess?" I don't normally get up this early unless I have to report to someone.
Plus I've been sleeping for a week, I'd rather get myself moving than stay in bed like a vegetable.
"Training."
This early?!
Even Oz doesn't wake up this early for training, unless the mess hall was serving his favorites.
"Why this early?"
"It's our first time going to battle." Bess paused for a moment to eat before continuing. "We can't afford any signs of weakness in front of the enemies."
Can't afford...it sounded like he's taking this battle seriously.
I know the raid was meant to attack that new World End Empire base we've learned from our most recent intel.
But a sense of worry started to build within me as I stare at Bess acting so nonchalant about this.
'...I should really drink this and go.' I'll be even more antsy if I don't find out what General Grandbard has to say to me.
Drinking what remains of my coffee, I excused myself. "Then Bess, I wish you luck on your training."
"Master." Before I left, Bess stopped me for a brief moment.
"What?" He gestured for me to come back.
Once I was close, I felt a hand land on the top of my head. With a small brief pat, Bess muttered. "Don't push yourself."
"...I-I won't."
As I walked away, I felt for a brief moment that Bess seemed a little bit different from the one I met the other day.
'He sounded a little bit nicer today.'
Unknown to me, a small grin was found on Brown Bess' face.
