My name is Chloe and I'm 11 years old. I have a diary that I have kept for 2 years. I want to tell you a story that happened 2 years ago, when I was only 9.

It all started on a beautiful day. The sun was only rising, but I was already in the stables, grooming my horse Thor. He was a beautiful black stallion, with a white star on his forehead and he had a white sock on his back, left hoof.

Suddenly I heard a familiar sound. I ran out and saw my friend Amanda riding towards me. Amanda was a very quiet girl and she could always answer all the questions anyone asked. She always said that anything is possible. I belive her.

She too had a horse. Her horse was white and he was called Cernunnos.

"Amanda!" I called. She smiled and stopped Cernunnos. I dashed into the stable and brought Thor outside and mounted him. "Where are we going today?" I asked. Amanda didn't respond, but turned her horse around. I galloped after her.

She took our favorite route towards the park, but suddenly she turned to the left instead of going on. "But the park's this way!" I said.

"We aren't going into the park," she said quietly. "Follow me!"

We galloped into the forest. We both knew the forest very well, but this time Amanda led me to a new trial I never knew. "I found this place interesting and I though you'd like to explore it," said Amanda. She knew that I loved to explore new routes. And so we began to follow the small path.

Thor was a better jumper, but Cernunnos was a better runner and so I found it quite hard to keep up. In a while the trees became smaller and light could be seen better. In the distance I saw Amanda stop Cernunnos and I sped my horse up. I stopped Thor and looked around. We were standing on a cliff and I could see a lake below us. How long we stood there, no-one knew.

We turned back, when it was already dark. After that we often visited that place and had a lot of fun and adventours, but this is a completely different story. The only thing that I will tell you is that we really wanted to arrive together at the cliff before the sunrise, but we never mastered it.

                                     * * *

In a few days, when I was sitting at home, my mother called me. I ran down-stairs at once.

My big sister Anna and my two big brothers John and Andrew were sitting on the couch, with puzzled looks on their faces. My father was sitting in his favorite armchair his

fingertips together.

Then he stood up. He looked very serious. Then he opened his mouth and began to speak. "Amanda's parents are planning a trip to the mountains. They asked us if we would like to go with them."

"What a stupid question! Of course we want to go!" said John. "This isn't as easy as you think!" my father growled.

"You see, Amanda wanted to take Cernunnos with her, but he won't fit into the bus, so they are walking. As you lot have horses too you can join her." "But you have never ever let us go alone into the forest!" Anna laughed. "I trust Amanda," said Dad. True, Amanda knew very well how to behave in the forest.

Later we found out that Amandas and my parents were going on a bus and we were given maps, where a dot symbolised the place where we would meet.

And so the next week we were riding down the forest path.

"Hey, Amanda, tell us a story!" said Anna. Amanda was a great story-teller and always had something in store. "What about?" she asked smiling. "What about..." began Anna,

when John interrupted. "What happens when you die?" John asked, his eyes shining.

"Different things happen to different people," Amanda said at once. "Those, who are needed can re-appear as animals. For example phoenixes or griffins. Yes, its hard to see them, but if you keep your eyes open-" "Rubbish!" piped up Andrew. Andrew never belived in myths or legends. Amanda turned her black eyes upon him.
