My warm breath rose up in the freezing air creating a little cloud.

I was walking down the rode at the crack of dawn. The freezing air was a comfort since it'll keep bugs away for a little longer. My feet were numbing from the freezing water I stepped on earlier.

I was on my way to the tournament of blades. I was going to compete for the valor and chance to enter the royal knights. Even if I failed, many promising combatants are  offered to be apprentices of promising trades.

I was born in a small village. My mother raised me on her own in our home. As I grew older, taxes increased and crops declined. I knew my mother would be able to meet ends if I left to acquire a trade. After searching through many villages similar to mine for work but none were offered. Until one day, a knight rode into the town I was in, announcing the tournament and its benefits.

I was shooked out of my reminiscing when a wagon pushed by a ox rode up alongside me. I looked upon realizing I made it to the kingdom of camelot. I walked through the gates ,after stating my business to the guard, and headed toward the center of town.

I walked up to the front of the tournament stand. The grizzled attendant there looked up wearily from the parchment he was reading. "Name?" he asked tiredly.
