Steve Rogers wasn't entirely sure he understood the new recruit, nor was he sure he ever would. Jackson worked in such odd and discreetly secret ways. He never answered the question asked if it would reveal something, but instead gave answers that told you a lot, but revealed nothing. Percy never confirmed if his dad was alive, but told them his family was powerful, above authority, couldn't be taken down by the Avengers or the government. That told them a lot, but what did it reveal? They didn't know for sure if his dad was alive, or who his family is. They hardly knew anything about him! But today they were going to test his skills, get a range on what he could do.
They'd accepted him on the team without having ever seen him fight. It wasn't something Steve was the most comfortable with, especially considering Jackson was so young, but he wouldn't judge a book by its cover. Especially a book that SHIELD an alarmingly small amount of information on. Tony had tried, really tried, but if there ever was anything to hack on Jackson that SHILED didn't know, it was unreachable.
Said person waltzed into the kitchen, wearing a t-shirt and joggers, eyes bleary from sleep. All eyes were on him, though he seemed not to notice as he filled up a glass with water. Lowering his glass, he met our gazes with a raised brow, his expression clearly unimpressed.
"Are you guys just going to stare at me? I'm not an animal you know, I'm not going to scare if you speak." Then he laughed to himself, as if he said something funny. "Stupid Circe," he muttered bitterly. This was something curious, they had a name. Circe. Steve had no idea who they were, but there was a negative emotion associated with them and that was something. Maybe he could get Percy to expand on that.
"Who's Circe?" Natasha, however, beat him to it. Steve was hardly surprised, she was in fact a spy.
"A very bad person who did some very bad things, had very bad motives, and incites some very bad memories." It was clear whoever this Circe was, they were not held fondly in Percy's mind.
"What'd they do? How come we don't know about them?" It was a valid question. If this person was so bad, how come SHIELD hadn't ever heard of them?
"She did a lot of things, some to me, most to others. You don't know about her because you can't find her." Jackson shrugged as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"That makes no sense. Does that mean you can find her, since you know about her that is." Tony questioned, curious and confused.
"I probably could if I tried hard enough- or at all really- but I can't image why I'd want to go back." Clint rolled his eyes.
"To capture her, she's dangerous from what you've told us. Plus, don't you want to get revenge?"
"She's only dangerous if you go to her, she can't come to you. And no, I don't want revenge, not particularly. I wouldn't mind if she broke a leg, or an arm or both. I also wouldn't be upset if one day she died, or disappeared off the face of the earth, but not revenge." Steve was surprised, passive aggressive much? He thought to himself. If the boy hated Circe so much, why didn't he want her captured? She'd be locked away, unable to harm anyone ever again. Didn't Jackson join the Avengers to protect people from harm?
"Why don't you want her captured, she wouldn't be able to do anymore harm. Didn't you join the Avengers to protect people from harm?" He voiced his thoughts. Percy pinched the bridge of his nose as if this was the most taxing thing he had ever had to go through.
"I want her captured, but she can't be captured because you can't capture her." Steve was confused. Why couldn't they capture her, was she an inhuman?
"If she's an inhuman you have to tell us, and if that is the case, then we can capture her." Tony argued, his face getting red with frustration.
