I climbed into my RS-1 and let the scanner scan my right eye and then pressed the power switch.

Before I closed my cockpit hatch, I said to Seras, who had followed us down here, “Seras, I want you to use your Harkonnen cannons to shoot down any and all missiles headed for the ship that we miss. Got it?”

She saluted and said, “You can count on me ma’am!”

I closed my cockpit hatch and fired up the engines. I took the lead and went onto the elevator first. I went onto catapult number two and took off at once. I circled the ship until everyone was in the air before leading the way to the enemy ships. It took about three minutes before they fired another volley of missiles, except they weren’t directed at the ship. I dodged every missile that came at me and then fired the 20mm sniper cannon that was loaded for taking out the ships at the lead ship, the Takao. The bullets just bounced off its shields and into the water. I then transformed into robot mode. Because I had a sniper rifle, I kept my distance from the ships. Then I saw each of the cruisers launch one of those modified F-18 Super Hornets off of each side, which meant that we had a total of eight enemy aircraft. I aimed for one that just transformed and zoomed in on him and then I fired one round straight through the mech’s chest. Then I took aim at another enemy and fired but they dodged it because they saw me take out their wingman. I retargeted the fighter’s engines and fired three successive rounds. They hit the fighter and it crashed into the sea.

Then Alucard called over the radio, “Why can’t I hit these damn ships!!”

I said, “They have a powerful energy shield that seems even stronger than our Klein Field. However, I managed to analyze their shield and it turns out that they are powered by solar rays, which means if we can drag this battle out past sunset, we will be able to directly damage the enemy ships.”

He said, “That sounds fun but how long until sunset?”

I checked the clock on my dash and said, “About three hours or so.”

He asked, “ And how much flight time do we have available?”

I said, “Just under that time. However, these can fly at a speed of Mach-3. THe fastest panes in the world as of today. But you have to be in fighter mode to fly that fast.”

I fired a volley of twenty missiles at the enemy squadron and then aimed my rifle at one of them and fired until he exploded in the air.

Sarah said, “Dammit!! I can’t shake this guy!! Could you give me some help here?”

I aimed at the guy tailing her and said, “Sure thing.”

I fired one round and saw it go straight through his cockpit, and then the fighter exploded.

Alucard said, “Nice shot.”

I said, “Thanks. It comes from years of training and a calm mind.”

Then I aimed at one that snuck up behind me using the water as cover and fired at point blank range. It destroyed him completely and I flew to a different location because a sniper should never ever shoot from the same place three times in a row, even though I already did.

I said, “We’ve taken out half of their fighters so far. All that’s left is to take out the rest and avoid the ships’ fire until we receive word from Henrietta that they are at a safe distance.”

I dodged a volley of missiles that was fired from the Takao and then dove underwater beneath the ship. I fired the remaining ten rounds that were in my magazine and then reloaded. The ten shot actually hit the ship and not the shields but failed to penetrate deeply enough. I then aimed my left wrist at the ship’s hull and fired the gauntlet machine gun that is mounted to both arms.

Rose said, “Commander, we are taking fire from all sides! Ugh!! Dammit!! We won’t last much longer if we are just trying to buy time for the ship to get away. Plus the sub just showed up and is firing at us.”

I sighed and flew out of the water just as the sub fired a volley of its missiles at our fighters. I fired my own volley to take out the missiles and it only managed to take out half of them.

I said, “Everyone take evasive action! The sub fired anti-air missiles!”

Sarah said, “I’ll take care of them. I have a ton of missiles that are designed to take out missiles. Leave it to me.”

I turned around and a targeted the missiles with my own, then Sarah flew next to me and did the same. I said, “I have the same missiles, Sarah.”

Then we both fired all of our remaining missiles and aimed our guns at the incoming rockets. The missiles we fired took out most of them but we had to shoot down the rest. Sarah had a 20mm Vulcan Cannon as her weapon, so that made it easier. I aimed down my sights and fired three rounds to take out two missiles, one missed its targeted by three centimeters and that caused the missile to not explode. I fired three more rounds and each one actually hit its mark, causing three missiles to explode.

There were only four left but I was reloading so Sarah took her 20mm Vulcan and fired at the missiles. Thanks to it being a machine gun, it took them out with ease and then she took aim at an enemy fighter and fired. She shot him down without him even being able to retaliate, leaving three left to kill.

I said, “Let’s try to save our ammo as best we can.”

Alucard said, “I’m already on my last magazine, and I’m out of missiles.”

I said, “Use what you have left wisely. The ship should be out of their range any minute now.”

I dodged a volley of missiles from the I-401 and the Takao then dove under water again. I aimed my rifle at the Takao’s underbelly and fired until my clip was empty, which was about twelve rounds. I saw a hole in the hull and smiled at my achievement. I reloaded before flying out of the water directly next to the ship and aiming point blank at the bridge. It penetrated the ship’s shields and went into the chest of the commanding officer. Before I could fire another round, the machine gunners opened fire on me. Due to the fact that the Klein Field was too big to fit, the fighter don’t have any kind of shielding device other than basic armor. I pulled away at full speed and assessed the damage.

There were three holes in the fighter’s armor, but they were very shallow and didn’t penetrate deep enough to cause any damage to major parts of the fighter.

I dodged another group of missiles from the sub and then called over the radio to the ship, “Henrietta, are you at a safe distance yet?”

She replied, “Yes ma’am, we are at a safe distance now. You may return to the ship at once.”

I called over the radio to the others who were fighting, “OK everyone, the ship is at a safe distance now. We can return at once. I suggest that we do because we only have about twelve minutes of flight time left. Change to jet mode and return to the ship at once! That’s an order!”

Everyone including Alucard said, “Yes commander!”

I flipped the C-switch and began flying at full speed to the ship followed closely by Alucard, who was out of ammo now, and Rose. Sarah was close behind them and we were all extremely low on ammo. I only had one clip left and a handful of missiles, literally.

I thought, “Damn that Natsu. She will pay for making a fool of me. One way or another, she will pay.”
