In the trenches were the boys,
The boys and the men.
This was the place for no man,
The place where boys turned into men.Bombs dropped,
Bullets showered onto those without cover.
The smell of burning,
The sound of shells exploding into millions of pieces.Hospitals full of those injured,
Limbs lost.
Minds lost,
Those that did not make it.Horses and dogs together at arms with their partners,
Trekking through the mud and the barbed wire.
Some soldiers captured,
Others their souls walked among the living.Yes this was the place for no man.
Millions gave their life,
Millions didn't come home.
To their families,
To their children and their friends. And still to this day we remember them,
Remember them leaving home to protect us.Remember them giving their lives so we could have our tomorrow,
And we remember the families of those who lost a son, a daughter, a husband, a wife, a mother and a father. It is for that that I salute you good Sir,
Good madame.
For the lives you have saved,
and continue to save today."Because for our tomorrow they gave their today"
