His mother was under a year old and where he came from, calico females were kept and bred to death, he was an outcome of one of the litters. Now since he is a male calico, he is sterile, therefore they saw no purpose to him in the breeding station. So he was then taken up for fighting, during fighting he was taught that he'll always be fighting in life or death. Damien had a beautifully long tail that the runners of the fights saw as a weak spot for Damien in fights, so they had his tail cut. Eventually as crowds got bigger and more money was brought in, they also took note that the yelling was a distraction to the fighting opponents. They then took action to cut the ears of the fighters, only they got busted. They were only through Damiens one ear before they left him and ran, leaving him with one cut ear. He left and grew up on his own without a home, eventually putting himself through school where he meets Brody.
