"99 bottles of beer on the wall,
99 bottles of beer.
Take one down, pass it around,
98 bottles of beer on the wall..."
I grumble my displeasure in my mind as I glare around at the bus half full of teens. This is the third time they have sang this stupid song.
When my school announced that my homeroom had won the contest and was going to take my class on a camping trip for a week, I was overjoyed! I loved nature, so having the opportunity to be in the midst of it left me ecstatic to say in the least.
PAlthough looking at the singing teenagers at the front of the bus from the back, I begin to worry that I didn't think this through enough.
It's not that I hate people, it's just that I can never seem to find the ease and contentment that I get from being alone. I would much rather sit outside all day alone compared to being stuck inside chatting away with everyone.
Turning away from the loud teens, I look out the window at the passing trees. It seemed as though we've been driving all day, but as I glance at my watch I notice it has been only a few hours.
I look up to see us passing a sign, "Camp Crystal Lake." Soon after, it doesn't take us long to arrive at the campsite and start unloading everybody's luggage.
Throwing my large duffle bag over my shoulder, I grab my small suitcase and begin to follow the crowd that is beginning to form at the center of the camp. We all stand around, not knowing where to go from here.
Looking around I see that all twelve of my classmates are talking to one another seeming to have no problem passing the time by sharing their displeasure of having to wait.
"Alright, everyone! Listen!" The talking dies down as we all turn to the older man with the counselor T-shirt who has two other counselors next to him. "Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake! We have lots of fun activities planned out for this week. But for now, let's get everyone settled in before we have lunch! Girls will have the cabin to the left of the camp, just follow Ms. Kendra here up this path and she will lead you straight to it. Boys, you will follow me to your cabin. Now, us three counselors are here to help make sure you all have a great time! So don't be afraid to ask for anything!" Any questions?" He looks around waiting, but then suddenly claps his hands together when he receives none. "Alright! Let's hop to it!"
With that, we split into our groups and began to head to our cabins.
As I started to follow the counselor I hear a rustle next to me. As I look over to the thick bush I couldn't help but shiver.
Somethings not right... I feel as though someone is watching me.
"Lora, hustle!" Yells Mrs. Jenson, my teacher.
"Coming!" I holler back, deciding to let it go... for now.
