The stairs only confirm my suspicions, the room is equally as dusty, perhaps more so. I take a few steps into the room and see that I leave boot prints on the floor, indicating that this room hasn't been used for a good while.
Well this isn't so bad. And it wasn't, the room is nice, both in style and size. With a queen size bed shoved into a corner and a storage chest at the end of it. A wardrobe was positioned at the right of the bed with a three panel room divider in front of that. The space closest to the door consists of two love seats forming a L shape centered with a wooden coffee table that resembles the stump of a tree.
After my assessment of the room I drop my bag to the floor, which only causes the dust to explode around me. Coughing I walk to the giant window at the right of the room, pulling the curtains back I'm met with the most beautiful view of the camp. Green trees scattered everywhere, I can see the main entrance of the camp and even the trails that lead from it to the cabins. Following another trail I see the lake. I now know why they call it Camp Crystal Lake! The lake is absolutely breathtaking, sparkling from the afternoon sun from hitting it just right.
Aside from the main trails leading to the major buildings in the camp, I also see a few of the lesser used trails that lead deeper into the forest. Looking to where the blocked off trail with the giant footprints is supposed to be, I'm disappointed to see the trail is hidden by the tree's leaves.
I study the camps layout a bit more before I look at my watch to see that I have an 1 hour and 45 minutes until dinner starts.
"Almost 2 hours to clean and put away my stuff? Easy." I mumble confidently.
---------------------------
It was not easy.
I had to take a bandanna out of my bag to tie around my mouth just to keep myself from choking on the dust that floated around in the air. Even with the bandanna, I fell like I was suffocating especially after shaking the dust off the bed sheets. Luckily, the window opened so it helped with airing out the room.
After every surface was either dusted, wiped, or swept, I was able to finally put my things away.
About time really, its been 2 hours. Time to eat already.
"What?" I look at my watch to see that it has indeed been 2 hours, 15 minutes past when dinner was supposed to begin. "Oh, no I'm late!" I take one more look around the room before calling it good and dash down the stairs into the cabin's lobby.
Before I can reach for the handle, its swung open revealing the same red haired counselor as before.
"What are you doing?" I shrink back from her shrieking tone. "Dinner started almost half an hour ago, why aren't you there?"
I try to give some type of an answer but a squawk is all I can muster out of my mouth. Curse you social awkwardness...
