Tan skin, wild pigtails, and big bright brown eyes full of life and curiosity, nothing compared to how they are now.
They used to praise her and talk about that big bright future of hers,
How nothing, not anyone could stand in her way.
And the world was her throne and she was The Queen!
And now? Fifteen years later and everything has changed
They smile at her while simultaneously and shamelessly whisper behind her back
They talk, they point, they laugh never sparing her feelings
Not once have they stopped and asked how she's doing
But that's okay, for how can she explain the raging storm within her
She's nothing but a shell of what she could've been
She's a dull, burnt out light in a sea of fireflies with nothing to lose, nothing to gain
Sitting alone in her room, she contemplates her life
'Was it all worth it? Will She ever be who She was once destined to be?'
