"I'm giving up hope" says Emmi a young 8 year old.
"Don't you'll be adopted soon." I promised the little girl looking at me with sad eyes.
"How do you know?" She asks.
"Because you little and cute."
"What about you then?" She asks
"I'm a big kid people don't want big kids." I tell her
"Oh."
At the front desk
A young couple have walked into the foster house in the small state of Ohio.
A bubbly bright woman speaks up.
"Hello my husband and I are looking for a young kid. Not a baby but a young girl." They request.
"We have a girl named Emmi who is 8 years old." The hagly old woman said from. Behind the counter.
"Perfect!" the young woman said.
The older lady handed them the paperwork and goes to get the child.
While the woman who is in charge of us comes to the room we all sleep in, she starts talking to another girl named Madeline.
"Where is Emmi?" She asks politely
"She's in the sitting room with Elvira."
"Thank you Madelaine.
"Your welcome." She snarks
The woman then walks down the rustic hallway twords the back of the old housd to find Emmi and myself sitting on the couch teaching Emmi how to read a book by herself.
"Emmi go pack your things". The old woman says.
"Why?" Emmi questions.
"Emmi there are two people sitting in the office who want to adopt you.
"Really?" she accepts excitedly.
She accepted it so fast. And left me in the dust they took my little sister or the girl I had taken under my wing when she arrived 3 years ago. I'm going to miss her. But while Emmi goes to the room to get her stuff the old woman sits next to me.
"Elvira." She says
"Ya?" I asked
" you have been here since you were 5." she starts
"Ya."
"Well I wanted to give you this."
"What is it?" I asked
"Its a phone." She explains.
"Really!" I say
She nods
"But why?" I asked
"You have been here for as long Ive had this place up and running. I wanted to give you hope. Its a new connection to the outside world. Also you are almost aged out so I was wondering if you would want to work with me to earn money and then you can buy stuff and do fun things. If you do get adopted before you age out I want you to remember this place. Promise?" She asks
"I will this is my home. I love this place. I accept the phone. And I would love to work with you." I agree.
Emmi then comes out and goes with Mrs.Landry to the front. To the outside world. To her new home...
