Chapter 2

It's been a rough day. I was walking through Greece, looking for the boy with the chest, when BLAM! I'm attacked! Not by a Mogadorian, but a street gang! It all started when I took a shortcut through a back alley. I should've learned from the first time I went onto an alley. The first guy drops from the hanging balcony and lands on my back. I know I'm stronger than him, and I'm about to throw him off when I'm punched in the gut by another man. Before I can react to this, I'm hit in the head with something hard.

Next thing I know, I wake up in a warehouse. I'm tied to a chair. I look up and notice another prisoner. It's a girl. She looks about fifteen. I try to speak but notice I'm gagged. The room is bright, unusually bright. There's no lights on and no windows are open. I must have a new legacy! I can see in complete darkness!

Suddenly, I hear footsteps. A tall, muscular man walks in. I think he's wearing a mask. He walks over to the girl and lifts up her hair. He takes out a large pair of scissors, and in one swift moment, slices a long, shallow cut along her forehead. Her eyes fly open. She tries to scream, but she's gagged. The man laughs and puts away the scissors.

I concentrate hard at the scissors, using my Telekinesis to lift the scissors out of the man's pocket. He obviously does not notice. With my mind, I send the scissors sharp end right into the man's rump. He howls in pain, falling backwards in confusion. I break my ropes with my Telekinesis and jump out of my chair, removing my gag. I use my Avex to zoom over to the man and kick him so hard he flies across the room and slams into the wall.

I hear footsteps, and five men with pistols enter the room. Using my Terric, I shake the Earth beneath them, causing them to stumble. One man dives to the side and shoots at me, but I hold the bullet in mid-air with my mind. I lift all five men into the air and slam then onto the concrete floor. I then use my mind to crush their pistols. Four of the men are unconscious, and the remaining one runs away.

I let him go and rush over to untie the girl. She's passed out from the pain in her forehead. I snap her ropes with my mind and lift her out of the chair, lying her on the floor. I hear a gunshot, and sixteen men armed with AK-47s enter the room. I know I can't defeat all of them, and I put my hands into the air.

Suddenly, a huge worm bursts forth from the ground, swallowing all sixteen men whole. I brace myself to fight, when the worm crawls out of it's hole and morphs into none other than, Oscar! He meows at me. "Oscar!" I yell and run to him. I pet him on his back and scratch his ears. I'm in the middle of giving him a belly rub when I hear a soft moan.

The girl! I run over to her. She opens her eyes and seeing me standing over her, she screams! In a blink of an eye, her hand shoots up and hits me, sending me flying across the room. She jumps to her feet and yells, "Who the heck are you? Where am I?!"

"Calm down." I say coolly. "You were kidnapped and so was I. The bad guys are gone now. Me and Oscar here kicked their butts." I add, "And saved yours."

It takes a few minutes for me to calm her down, and eventually she starts talking. She's a Loric, just like me. A gang who worships the Mogadorians has been trying to kidnap her for months. The gang's leader is a former Mogadorian soldier. She says their leader was killed by a powerful Loric. I know exactly who that Loric is. Me. That's why they kidnapped me! The girl tells me her name is Cheryl, and she has two Legacies: Recupero, the power to heal wounds, and Telekinesis. When she's done talking, I try to find a way out of the building. When I can't find an, unlocked door, I smash through a wall.

It's night! I tell Cheryl about the boy with the glowing chest, and we set off, ready to find Thirteen. I am Number Twelve. She is Number Seventeen.
