To All The People

To all the people,
oh turn around,
why can't we leave the planet how it was found?
To all the people,
oh turn around,
all our behaviour is destruction bound.
To all the people,
oh turn around,
look at this mess, don't make a sound.
Stay still for a minute to mourn the loss
of our green planet we destroy at all costs.
Plastic in the seas and dirt in the air,
animals dying everywhere.
Woods are burning with flames falling wide,
endangered species have nowhere to hide.
We walk the earth like it is ours, increasing pollution for hour and hours.
We take what isn't ours to take
until the environmental system collapses at the point break.
I once read the semi-sarcastic sentence: "You may like to be choked but sea turtles don't"
so keep your plastic to yourself and they won't.
The way we drive our cars,you may think we can't walk
but all we are is irresponsible and lazy and that's real talk.
We pump our emissions into the air
and of the severe consequences we'll, too, have our fair share.
Global warming isn't real
but the ice is breaking, horrendous storms get us shaking, more natural disasters are in the making and still, we are faking.
Faking that everything is alright, faking that we aren't affected
but one fact is neglected.
That even if you're not interested in saving our planet for selfless reasons,
you are what you do
and if you destroy the planet it will come back at you.
So recycle your waste, especially your plastic, buy locally,
clean the beaches, ride your bike, eat less meat, all those little things help totally.
Wear sustainable clothing from trustworthy brands,
don't wear fur, don't buy exotic rainforest wood,
help saving our planet, step for step, hand in hand.
So to all the people,
oh turn around.
