Chapter 5: Kate
Xavier and I had pulled into our favorite fast food restaurant, and order two milkshakes. We we arrive at our booth we began to brainstorm.
"Where would Jess go, come on think Kate.." encourages Xavier. I mean I know Jessie has changed, but how much has she really? I know the real Jessie, I mean I have never said it but I know why she changed, and I'm not mad at her for it. If I lived with her parents, I would have done the same thing, however I would have left sooner. Jessie and I always where talking about where we'd want to go if we left this small town. I wanted to go west, start a acting career, then again i was in 8th grade and also thought i could be a pop star, lacking the actual ability to sing. Jessie said she wanted to go some where big, where she could get lost without trying. That only eliminates what a quarter of the states?
"A penny for your thoughts?" Says Xavier sarcastically. "I can tell you are thinking, anything come to mind?"
"No, not that I can think of, just somewhere big, where you can get lost without trying." My voice trails as I drift into a train of thought, only to be interrupted by a text. I quickly glance at the phone, hoping it will be Xavier or Jessie, although the possibility of that is close to zero considering I have their phones. "That's weird', I say mostly to myself.
"What?" says Xavier curiously. "It's a text from an unknown number", I opened the text and read it aloud.
"Hey Kate, it is Jessie. I Know i have been a horrible friend to you the past year, and there no use of denying it we all know it's true. While we did still hang out it was never the same we were living in two different worlds and i was pushing you out of mine. I was so very wrong for that. I'm texting you from a burner phone and honestly, I need to ask you for a favor, btw I'm assuming you are with Xavier..." I read the last part to my myself because I didn't need Xavier to know this the rest of the sentence read sense you're madly in love with him. OF course usual Jessie, i think to myself she had to know i was reading this aloud. I continued reading acting like i just needed to clear my throat. "Keep Andrews parents from finding it he is gone until at least 8PM tonight, have to go i am our GPS system currently talk more later"
"So they're alive" chirped Xavier breaking the sudden silence that had fallen upon the two of us. We both laughed awkwardly. "So they're alive" I repeated, and added, "and we have a task to do so lets stall this parents".
"How are we going to do that?"
"Well genius we have there phones, how do you feel about being Andrew for at least a few hours?"
"Sounds like I'm going to have to lower my IQ quite a bit" he joked.
