Chapter 7: Andrew
Jessie has drifted off to sleep as we were talking, I couldn't keep my eyes off her. I was afraid I would blink and she would be gone. Her eyelids where fluttering as she was sleeping, I wasn't completely convinced she was sleeping yet. When somebody like Jess is in your life you don't want to lose them, however I didn't fully trust her yet. How could I? She planned on just leaving one day without ever telling a soul. As I lay, gazing over at her I notice how her long blonde hair, seems to glow against the moon light coming through the window. I close my eyes and fall into a light sleep. An hour or two pass when the phone Jess acquired, I don't even want to know how, starts to buzz like crazy. Jess wakes up as well, she must have been in the same state of slumber as me, not fully awake, but not fully asleep.
"Omg we have to go" she have says this and half mumbles this as she gathers her bag, and our stuff from the room.
"Calm down Jess what's wrong?"
"It's a text from Kate they found out we had left, your parents and they called the police, they just finished questioning Kate and Xavier."
"What?!" I start to panic a little, I didn't consider my parents. I just knew I couldn't let Jess be alone. They will understand.... One day. I calm down and help Jess, she can't find the car keys. We had left them near the tv last I remember. Searching for about a half hour, we couldn't find the key anywhere, but then as we walked out to the parking lot we couldn't find the car either. Someone has stole it!
"Oh no!" Screams Kate, she begins to hyperventilate. A panic attack, she's having a panic attack. I used to get these all the time in middle school, when I was let's just say not the captain of the football team, and convinced I was going to be a superhero. Not the most popular.
"Jess what color was the car?"
"Blue, why does that matter Andrew?" She manages to get out between short breaths.
"Jess how many stars are there?"
"I don't know Andrew, why does this matter?" Her breathing starts to return to normal.
"Jess?"
"Yeah?"
"It's going to be okay" I walk over to her and hug her tight, we stay here like this for, what seems like hours. Eventually we started to brainstorm. And after what seems like forever I convinced Jess to call Xavier and Kate and see if they wanted in on this adventure we were having.
"Andrew this is a horrible idea! Andrew give the phone back" did I say convince?
Jess tried to grab the phone, but I'm about a foot taller, and have a bit more muscle then her. Struggling I dialed the phone, and frantically Kate picked up.
"Kate are you alone?"
"Yes" she whispered
"The police just left they are going to send a team out to find you, luckily they think you're in Florida."
"Andre give me the phone!" Yells Jess
"Was that Jess?"
"Yes"
"Andrew why did you take the phone?"
"We are in Georgia, we need a ride to Massachusetts, can or Xavier come drive us?"
"You're kidding?"
"Nope"
"What about school?"
"What about it?"
"Really Andrew?"
"What it's almost summer anyways, you can go back before it starts next year?"
"I can't believe I'm doing this.."
"Wow I can't believe you agreed either."
"I'll get Xavier meet you guys at noon."
"Okay we are in Sage Hotel just of route 13 an hour into Georgia."
"Okay, see you then."
Jess is furious, but we both knew we were going to either have to get caught, or find a way. This is our way.
"Andrew?" Jess says hesitantly.
"Yes Jess?"
"A while back you said you loved me?"
"Oh yeah, I guess I did..." my face grows hot, in my fit of rage I may have let a few things slip.
"Did you mean it?"
"Yes"
