I have an experience wherein, I started to write a one shot story when I was about to sleep one night. When I woke up the other day, I read the finished story I've written last night and I can't believe I wrote a genre that I don't usually write. While reading it I was asking myself if this is my own writing, coz really, nevee in my wildest dream would I imagine myself writing a story like that. But then, I realized that reading books that is beyond ny usual likings is productive too because I've written a book out of my usual style too.
Hope this helps somehow, I don't know if you learn something from this, but if you do jot down your feels especially if you've experience being surprise by your own writings.
