Chapter VI

I come to in a dark room. I try to stand but realize I am bound to a chair which is welded to the metal floor below. The room begins filling with water and starts to fill quickly, I struggle to get out for a few moments when I hear it, my daughters scream in the dark. Sheer panic fills my mind knowing she's going to go underwater and drown if i do not get out of this chair, I flex extremely hard trying to free myself bending the metal holding me to the chair and badly cutting my wrist. The water is now chest high, freezing cold making it feel like needles are stabbing me everywhere, I hear her scream then gurgle knowing she's underwater now. I give it all my might and tear my hands off as I stand up and make my way to her. Her restraints are metal too as I begin to panic more. And that's when I cone to.
We are still both underwater but I have my hands again, she's barely contious as I grab her and swim up setting her on a ledge. She coughs up water but is breathing. I smile softly and hug her gently, feeling her hands go around me.
"Dad... You came... God I missed you..."
I smiled kissing her head. I go to get on the platform but get pulled under again. I feel a large hand grab my calf and pull hard dislocating my knee, I wince in pain as his grip slips and I swim up a bit and get a huge breath of fresh air.
"Run melody! Get out!" Is all i get out before I get drug under again. I notice it's not the man pulling me under but rather a huge metal fan at the bottom spinning incredibly fast and drawing us in, the guy is trying to drag me down with him. He has ahold of my same leg and we both sink fast, I conserve my energy as he struggles to pull me down deeper but doesn't get far before the fan catches his legs and begins to grind, snap, and shred them, he lets go and let's all of his air out in a scream as the blades destroy him. I use the huge burst of energy i save and swam up to the top of the water where Kurt was guarding Melody as the door poured with those creatures, I jumped up and crawled onto the platform and began to fight off the horde too, like a swarm they came in the doors and even the large opening of the reactor. We fought on for what seemed like forever, then the reactor started to fail.
The warning sirens blared as some of the creatures came from below jamming the fan and disturbing the core's temp making it unstable. I told the two to run out as I hit a decent sized hole in the wall, letting them run out before I followed killing dozens as they swarmed us. We made our way to the helped where I saw a chopper waiting to fly, I pointed at it and kurt and melody ran to it while I held the horde off. They got there and got it working, the blades spinning fast as i tured to run to get on.
Kurt lifted off as i ran so nothing got into the chopper. Running as fast as I could I leaped up and barely caught the ledge with my blade hooking it, dangling there as we took off. I noticed the horde was following exactly where I went and not really Kurt or Melody. I pondered for a moment and then heard Melody tell me to board. I looked up at her and smiled big, told her I got a plan. I sensed huge movement below the reactor and realized it was one entity. I saw kurt lean over and look as Melody asked again, i looked at her face and studied it in great detail, as if I've never seen her before, yet I knew everything about her.
I retracted the scythe blade. And as i fell i saw Melody reach for me. Kurt held her back as I did so, had a worried look on his face, and three finger saluted me. I did the same and yelled i love you to her, before turning and seeing a huge beast tearing down the reactor, swallowing it whole. I fell close to a side of its mouth and extended my scythe, starting to cut a gash down its side as i entered its mouth, I saw the reactor core glowing bright red deep in the water, and as I entered I heard the walls of the creatures neck and body being torn open by the smaller ones. The big one started to fall back onto a large horde of the small one's as I wished for the best for those two and my wife, not sure if I was gonna see the light of day. And then it flashed. The beast body kept the blast pretty controlled, killing it and the hundreds of smaller ones inside and around it.
