Chapter 2

-A Few Months Later-

Dean and the rest of the squad was putting out a house fire. Nicole was walking across the street from the library to get herself something to eat...

Once Dean and the rest of the squad got back to the station Dean gets a call from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. "Hello is this Dean Miller?" Someone asked him. "Yes it is?" Dean says. "A woman by the Nicole Madison was brought here about 20 minutes ago, she was shot in her arm, she's in surgery now" the person tells her. "I'll be right there" Dean says hanging up. "Hey cap, Nicole's in the hospital, someone...shot her" Dean says with a hint of venom in his voice saying the last part. Andy just stood there in shock for a few seconds, her, and along with the rest of the squad has become so close with Nicole that they all see her as basically part of their family. "I'll get someone to cover the rest of your shift, go, and keep me posted on how she's doing" Andy says to him. "I will, and thank you cap" Dean says before gathering his stuff and leaving.

-The Hospital-

"Excuse me, I'm looking for Nicole Madison's room, she was brought here-" Dean starts to say. "Dean, come with me I'll take you to her room" Dr.Bailey says to him. "Does anyone have any idea who shot her?" Dean asks as he follows her to Nicole's room. "No, their are some police officers waiting for her to wake up so they can ask her some questions about the person" Dr.Bailey tells him. "I don't want them asking her questions until she's fully conscious and aware of what's going on around her, also I don't want them causing her to have an anxiety attack" Dean says. "I'll see what I can do" Dr.Bailey tells him and the two of them walk into Nicole's hospital room. "She just got out of surgery, she'll wake up in a hour or so, I'll leave you two alone, I left you some tissues and some water on the table over their, I'll be back in 30 minutes to check on her and you" Dr.Bailey says before leaving the room and closing the door. Dean sat down next to Nicole's hospital bed and gently grabbed her hand. "My love, who would do this to you, you've only lived in Seattle for a few months, how and why would anyone want to hurt you?" Dean says, as he starts to become very angry. "I'm gonna find the son of a bitch who did this to you and I will make them PAY, I'll make them regret ever laying a finger on you, no one hurts the love of my life and gets away with it!" Dean growls. He then starts to cry. "No, no crying, I don't cry, but the love of my life is hurt, she's hurt and I wasn't there to protect her" Dean says still crying and grabbing some tissues. After another hour or so Nicole wakes up. Dean has kinda stopped crying by that time, and he rushes to her side. "Nicole, babe, take it easy, let me adjust your bed so you can sit up a little" Dean says adjusting her bed. Suddenly the two police officers barge in the room. "Miss.Madison, I'm Officer Charles Hamilton and this is my partner Officer Alex Jefferson, we're here to ask you a few questions about the person who shot you" Officer Hamilton said to her. Dean was about to go off on them but Nicole stopped him. "It's ok Dean" Nicole says to him. "Do you remember what the person looked like, their face, what they were wearing?" Officer Jefferson asked her. "I remember a man, he looked like he was in his early 20's maybe, tall, caucasian, he was wearing all black, he was wearing leather pants and a leather jacket, he tried to rob me before he shot me, so I kinda got a good look at him" Nicole says. "And his face?" Officer Hamilton asked her. "He had blonde hair and a scar on the right side of his face, I think it was near his eye" Nicole tells them. "That's all, thank you Miss.Madison, and we found your purse, I hope all of your belongings are still in their" Officer Jefferson says to her kindly handing Dean her purse before he left with his partner. "Your phone, wallet, with all of your cards and cash is still in it, keys, and everything else is in here, the guy who tried to rob you didn't take anything, wait he did take your library card, wow, this idiot isn't even worth it, by that I mean I was going to hunt him down and make him pay for hurting you, I'm still gonna make him pay for hurting you, but all he took was your library card-" Dean says. "I can replace that easily" Nicole tells him, giving him a small smile. "But you can't be that "easily replaced" if he had done more to you, causing you more pain, then you would need several army's to hold me back, I would spend every moment of my life looking for him so I can make him feel so much pain, he would be a dead man, not that he isn't one now but-" Dean says. "I get what you mean babe, I love you Dean" Nicole says to him. "I love you Nicole" Dean says to her. Suddenly someone walks in, and Dean notices that he fits Nicole's description of the person who shot her. Dean stands up and makes his way over to him, with look of pure anger and rage on his face. "You, you're the bastard who hurt my girlfriend, you made a very, very bad decision hurting my girlfriend" Dean growls. Dean didn't wait for the guy to respond, he just starts punching the guy "YOU. DO. NOT. HURT. MY. GIRLFRIEND. I. AM. GOING. TO. KILL. YOU!!!" Dean screams as he continues to punch the guy, a few minutes later the police came and arrested the guy. Nicole started to have an anxiety attack "Dean babe, I can't breathe, Dean!" Nicole screamed for him. Dean's eyes widened, he rushes over to her "I'm right here babe, come here, what can I do to help you?" Dean asked her, holding her close to him. "Just keep holding me, please, don't let go of me, please, I just want you to keep holding me" Nicole tells him as she starts to calm down. "I'm not letting you go, not now, not ever, I'll protect you and I will never let you go" Dean tells her. After a little while longer Nicole has fallen asleep in Dean's arms. Dean looked down at her sleeping peacefully and smiled. "Hey it's getting kinda late, you want to spend the night with her?" Dr.Bailey said coming into the room with Ben. "Hey Dean, Andy wanted me to come by and check on you two" Ben tells him. "She's ok, she had an anxiety attack but I was able to calm her down" Dean tells him. "Good to know, Ben give me a hand with moving Nicole over a little so Dean can lay with her" Dr.Bailey says as they move Nicole over a little and Dean lays next to her and wraps his arms around her gently. "Thank you" Dean says to them. "Well I better be getting back to the station, I'll see you later hun, and one of the others will be by later to check up on you two" Ben says before he leaves the room. Dr.Bailey then leaves the room. Dean gently brings Nicole closer to him. He kisses her forehead gently "I know we've only been together for a few months now but I swear, I'm gonna marry you, one day, just you wait, I'm gonna get you a beautiful ring, it won't be as beautiful as you, and I'll take you anywhere you want to go for our honeymoon, I love you Nicole, I love you so much, good night, my love" Dean whispers before falling asleep. Unknown to him Nicole had woke up a little bit while he was talking and she heard everything. "And I can't wait for that day to come, I can't wait to marry you, and it doesn't matter where we go on our honeymoon or even if we don't really go anywhere for our honeymoon, as long as I'm with you, I'm happy" Nicole whispers before falling back to sleep smiling.
