intoxicated and curious. chpt.1

In a small town called Harnsey there was a dark and evil secret brewing, rumour has it that in their only woodlands, deep within them you can come across a very old and crippled mansion. People have reported sightings of living things inside, possibly people but no one has been able to get close contact with whatever lives inside, and if they did they usually never came back out to tell. The whole woodlands had been blocked off by a weak barbed wire fence to try and discourage people from entering but people like Maddy and Kat were adventurous and very rebellious.

Maddy had planned a night in with her friends, with alcohol as her father was out of town for the next few days. Her mother had passed away at the age of 7 and it had been up to her father for the past 10 years to look after Maddy and be basically her mother and father at the same time. It was currently 9:30 at night and Maddy and her friends were crowded around in the lounge room in front of the fireplace with the television on playing music and chatting amongst each other about all types of things that happened at school, on the weekend or just random things. The mini party they had spruced up when Maddy bought out 2 packs of 8 beers for them to drink.

"Stolen from my dad's fridge" Maddy said with a smirk, a proud one.

"Hell yeah!" Exclaimed Kat with a cheer, Tara not making much of an input as she was usually a bit of a wimp.

Kat smiled with glee and Maddy sat down and placed the drinks between the 3 of them, tearing open the soft cardboard holding them together and taking one out from the top. Maddy unscrewed the cap off the bottle and the liquid inside fizzed up with a hiss. She placed it to her lips and took a gulp at first it was very strong and made her cough, both her friends giggling but doing the same thing at their first drink.

For most of the night they drank away until they started to get quite tipsy and Kat beginning to hiccup, they managed to drink the entire box. Maddy stood up with a little tip but used the couch as support, Kat was giggling and seemed the most drunk out of all of them.

"Hey! We should go check out that mansion up on the hill! Y'know that really scary one up on the hill that no one is allowed to go too??" Kat hiccupped and giggled with excitement, Maddy nodding and laughing the same though Tara whimpered.

"But...the whole reason it's closed up is so no one goes there. It's dangerous" she looked down sadly.

"Exactly!" Maddy exclaimed, seeming to not care at all for the dangers they would encounter if they went. Tara got up and shook her head, going to the door as Maddy and Kat got their shoes and jackets on in a rush, thinking Tara was getting up to go with them when in fact she was leaving to go home, wanting nothing to do with this.

Maddy grabbed her house keys and rush to the door with a hiccup, Kat following along. Tara opened up the door and stepped out, the other two following.

"Let's go girls!" Maddy squealed, not caring that it was 11 at night.

"I'm not going." Tara stated furiously and began to walk home without another word, leaving the other two girls standing shocked she wouldn't go with them, but within a second Maddy and Kat shrugged it off and went the other way in search for the entrance to the fence surrounding the woods bearing the mansion everyone was so afraid of.
